A difficult week. Started strong, but a personal crisis--some bad news--really took the wind out of my sails. Writing in these circumstances is an odd thing. On the one hand, a welcome escape from the concerns of real life, an established routine offering something else to think about. On the other--well, I found myself staring at the screen on Wednesday unable to write and wondering what, exactly, I was doing.
Fortunately, things got better. Writing resumed. It's a difficult scene, the moment in which David discovers his fate, setting up the return to the normal first-person narrative. I've had a couple of tries at it and had to restart a few times. Still not convinced I've got it right, but making progress again. His difficult encounter with the other three is interspersed with memories of the previous night with Chad, which seems to be working - instead of a scene in itself it acts as a counterpoint to what's happening in the present.
Sneak Peek to folllow!

Great to hear that. Updates definitely work, we can see number of words keeps growing, and we learn what's coming.

And glad the updates work for you; they're just as much for me, to keep me on track and avoid another six-month collapse, as happened last year.

2023-11-11 13:26:46 +0000 UTCBest wishes for you as you deal with your personal crisis. I know you won't (and shouldn't) go into detail but I hope you're feeling better. Great if you find that writing is a welcome distraction but please don't force yourself if you're not feeling it. Looking forward to the next sneak peek. Sounds like a pivotal scene so it's well worth taking your time on. On a more general note, I'd just like to say I really do appreciate these little updates and looks 'under the hood' at your process. Thank you.
