2021 in Review
Added 2021-12-29 21:39:34 +0000 UTCAs we approach the end of 2021, I wanted to take a moment to look back over the progress of the game. I first released on February 8, a bit over 10 months ago, with a little over 20k words of content and no experience with any of this lmao.
Obviously I had writing experience, but not in this style, I had to learn Python to make the game, I didn't think we'd get to art for a while if ever, I had no idea how difficult some of my ideas would turn out to be, I didn't expect to get stuck on Ina's intro scene or Celica's romance for so long, I assumed I'd have Sam/Metatron/Celica romances started within 4-5 updates, thought I could do sex battles in 2 weeks...
Needless to say, this has been a learning experience, and a humbling one at that. I'd like to think that I have a better idea of what I'm doing now in some regards, and I've fixed a lot of problems throughout 2021, but there's still plenty to do and a lot more experience to gain. I spent a lot of time this year fixing problems and working out things I hadn't planned well enough.
It's not all bad, either; the art situation worked out much better than I had dared to dream, and I've had an enormous amount of fun working with artists and seeing girls (and now monsters!) come to life. And while the story/character stuff hasn't gone EXACTLY the way I thought it would, we're still going places and generally following my vision for the game, slowly improving along the way.
So, I just wanted to thank you all for bearing with me so far. I know it's been a little bumpy at times, and I'm not magically gonna be a perfect dev next year either. But I'll keep working at the game and trying to improve, so here's to 2022 being a more content-focused year with exciting new stuff on the horizon!
