The Third Rodriguez Sister

Edit! I went ahead with the suggestions that we split the difference and make her a skater girl. I think this is a great look for her, it's distinct from all the other characters and I feel like it gets across what I want about her character - she's the youngest, a bit more impulsive and playful, and more creative/bohemian. Also very SoCal. The other outfits still work for something more formal and for the gym.

I think we'll go with Calista, and call her Cali for short. I like Ana, but I feel like Calista fits the classical theme, and matches the other sisters names more in length and complexity.

Rounding her character out - she's into skating, and would like to try surfing (but lives too far inland for it to be convenient) so at some point maybe Miyuki can teach her how. She's also "the creative sister" and is studying visual art in college - I thought about having her be a musician but as an artist we can actually see what she does. She's also apparently into retro sneakers. She's a bit of a smartass, always snooping and poking into things and generally getting into trouble.

The T-shirt on the first outfit says "Skatezlcoatl" if you can't make it out.

The third and youngest Rodriguez sister, my quick concept art. I haven't settled on a name yet so we'll just call her la Niña for now, because she's the youngest. Let me walk you through it:

General appearance

I want all three sisters to look enough alike they can impersonate one another - I don't have specific plans for this just yet, but it has potential. Selena's a few inches taller but la Niña is the same height as Lyta and they all have the same body type.

The topknot ponytail is a little more youthful and visually distinct from Lyta (bobbed hair) and Selena (long hair). It can be either sporty or a little punk, but I think if you put them all in a row you can tell she's youngest. When let down, her hair is sort of a cross between Lyta and Selena - shoulder length, black and straight like Selena's with Lyta's side part.

Gothy version - somewhat self explanatory. My original concept of her is close to this, more or less - it makes her a bit more of a style rebel than her sisters and very distinct from them, but she looks a bit more like she's supposed to be Raven's younger sister (or Latina Nikki).

Gym Bunny version(s) - you guys liked the idea of her being the sporty or athletic sister so I gave her a gym bunny look as well. This look is less visually distinct, but if she's setting herself up to be a fitness person as a career then Miyuki can mentor her and cause untold mayhem, as usual. Once her parents moved to owning their own business they moved from east LA to Rancho Cucamonga, which is safer, more prosperous, and one of the most comically named places in California. Hence the hoodie. It is located in the Inland Empire though, which sounds pretty imposing. Trivia for you: San Bernadino County is slightly larger than Bosnia; it would rank as the 125 largest country in the world if it were independent - that's larger than 70 actual countries.

Nude versions - why we're here. I did a version with her hair down, it's straight, comes to her shoulders. La Niña is something of an exhibitionist, but I think it' mostly that she wants to do something she's not supposed to - probably very similar to Miyuki in motivation. This has to be the case, or the comic I'm planning won't make any sense.

Canon info from various sources so far

I revised the number of children in the family down to 5 and we'll stick with that. There are two boys and three girls, they are, in order:

Hector, aged in his late 20s. The kind of guy who was captain of the high school football team, everyone likes him. Served in the USMC, now out and working toward being a professional of some kind, I thought lawyer but doctor would also be good.

Hippolyta (Lyta), age 26 (I keep moving her age around, I think this is what we settled on). USAF fighter pilot, Aztec magical girl, mathematical and engineering genius. Miyuki's roommate. The "smart" sister, also the tough one, kind of a tomboy.

Alejandro (Ale), age 24. quiet, skinny kid growing up, great with mechanical things and can fix pretty much anything. Works at the family business (a garage) as a mechanic, will likely take over the business when their parents retire.

Selena, age 22. Aspiring actress and model, Aztec Magical Girl. The "pretty" sister, even though they all look alike - partly this is because she has a sweet, girly personality, partly it's because she's not the smart one.

La Niña, age 18 or 19. Presumably going to college, may live in the dorms but still spends a lot of time with her parents in R. C. Has the potential to become an Aztec Magical Girl but in the narrative present it hasn't happened yet.

I haven't thought of a name for her yet but the astute among you may have noticed all her siblings have classical Greek names that are also (mostly) common in Spanish. Possibilities following this trend: Diana, Sofia, Elena, Ana, Clara, Persefone, Calista, Casandra.

I kinda like Calista, but let me know your thoughts.
