Sorry to throw all these polls out at once, I'm trying to get to the colors and we need lines done first.
I have looked at lots of photos of Polynesian women since we started on this and there's a great deal of variation in eye shape, so I wouldn't say either is more realistic than the other, really just an aesthetic choice at this point (I've been assuming she's Polynesian, there are other PI ethnicities but Hawaiians, Samoans, Tahitians, and Maori are all Polynesian).
I drew #1 a bit more wide eyed than #2; that wouldn't always be the case, in fact the original sketch lines are there, and appear less startled. (Wide-eyedness is possible with all shapes of eyes, and if you're Miyuki's new friend she's bound to do something startling).
