So in the first episode Viserys said it's a myth that they control the dragons, which we see here. Despite Aemond and Luke trying to command their dragons not to fight, they still did and went against their riders. Arrax was young and scared and blew fire at Vhagar even with Luke trying to stop him. Vhagar is an old dragon and has seen a lot of war and fighting so she was not about to take an attack from little Arrax lightly. Also the dragon Daemon was singing to (Vermithor the second oldest dragon) is not one he's trying to claim, but one he wants to get used to being around humans so that if someone were to claim him, he won't just kill them lol He's a big ol boy but still smaller than Vhagar.

2025-05-16 14:14:25 +0000 UTCI'm not 100% certain but I think the third dragon that flies off with Jace and Luke is Rhaenys on Meleys because she's going to patrol the Gullet (she volunteers to patrol when they're standing at the table making plans). Edit: Earlier in the episode, Rhaenyra says, “When dragons flew to war, everything burned” — a line that subtly foreshadows what’s to come. It suggests that once dragons are unleashed in war, the destruction quickly spirals beyond their riders' control, hence the situation with Aemond and Luke. This sets the stage for the conflict to evolve into the infamous Dance of the Dragons — the story Princess Shireen tells Stannis in GoT.
