****** vs ****** Who would you have "saved"? (AOT Spoiler warning!)

In the final moments of the lastest episode of Attack on Titan, Captain Levi makes the controversial decision to "save" Armin instead of his commander Erwin. I'm still wrapping my head around the reasoning for that, but what do you think and who would you have saved???

Akasan, Erwin's teacher was his father! Lol not potential lover. Stop it. Lol. Anyways, I chose Armin over Erwin. The way I saw it, Erwin was already done. He was seeing his dead comrades standing around him prior to executing his suicide mission, that's a huge death flag right there. Also I took it as a double meaning when he raised his hand and asked his teacher if they're sure there's no one else outside the walls. He also involuntarily blocked Levi from giving him the syringe, almost like he's saying "that's not for me". As much as I loved his character in the series, I felt it was time to let him go. RIP to Commander eyebrows

Disagree, it was made apparent at the end that Lei had indeed let him die for his selfish dream but at the end realised that it was the others around him that forced him to become a demon. People screamed and cried to Erwin in the scouts in the past calling him a demon and heartless however never actually tried to get him to step down or atone, why? It's because they knew he was what humanity needed to survive. Additionally, the safer decisions aren't always the ones that bare fruit its awfully convenient for people stating erwins failures and Armins successes but not stating the fact that armins current philosophies derive from people like Erwin who armin in his owns words said "those who cant sacrifice anything can never change anything" . FYI there were huge amounts of sacrifices in the battle to seal the wall in Trost.

100% disagree; Erwin held his position and did not achieve anything near the magnitude of Armin's successes. The sealing of Trost; the plan to re-seal Shiganshina at night; and was quickly able to assess Reiner's position and come up with a plan to defeat Bertholdt. Erwin's victories always came at a major cost. For example: the operation to lure the Female Titan resulted in serious casualties despite Erwin's planning; they lost the entirety of Levi squad and numerous veteran Scouts, all because he ultimately fails to come up with a plan that minimizes casualties. Another example would be in this battle here, where Erwin sacrificed the entirety of the Scouts on the other side of the wall (including himself) and still was not able to successfully defeat the Beast Titan. Armin's sacrifices are minimal; he sacrificed himself and ensured the capture of Bertholdt as well as sealing both walls that were breached. This is because Armin has the ability to quickly assess situations and make safer decisions that are ultimately the most efficient use of the resources available to them. Erwin was never able to find the most efficient use of his soldiers, they were just mere pawns to sacrifice for his ultimate dream. That is why Levi made the choice to let Erwin die, as punishment for the sacrifices he made for the sake of his selfish dream.

Erwin was definitely was the right choice he had the experience and the nerves to get the job done quickly and efficiently. The obvious reason is because of his rank. Peoples rebuttle to this would be "but armin has saved us and come up with these ideas and erwin didnt". First of all Armin was practically in the ideal position than Erwin in everyway to discover the truth of Annie and the ideal tools for success. You guys have to understand that Armins best friend is the coordinate and an ackerman warrior, on top of levi and company Armins ideas could florish. Erwin on the other hand years before the series had to lay the foundations of the survey corps and cultivate the little talent they had.

I vote for GODholdt Fubar, a man who did ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong. A true hero that saved the world from it's end (temporarily).

Personally, I saw no controversy for this episode. Even when I read this in the manga I felt like it was the right choice. Despite not wanting to die & give up his dreams, Erwin was able to accept his fate at the end. Levi remembers that & decides to honor it. Also now Erwin no longer has to be the scapegoat making all the difficult decisions, he can finally rest in peace and let the others continue his work. Levi wanted Erwin to rest peacefully now instead of bringing him back to “hell.”

Reason is, that Erwin has already done everything for humanity and his own dream is more for selfish reasons, vs Armin who is a fresh new soldier who is smart as hell and in the long run would easily surpass Erwin due to the amount of information he has available already, by the time he will be Erwin's age he will be by far a better leader, plus his dream of seeing the sea and exploring the outside world not only helps him but humanity as a whole, it is making sacrifices for the next generation then trying to cling to the past, for a better future.
