I gotta cape for Zack for a second or two. I think Michaela has some issues that she needed to deal with before entering into an instant marriage, let alone a serious relationship. She also has some petty tendencies, all of which is triggering for him. When they seemingly resolve their conflict (like with pastor Cal or after talking things out), she switches up with petty texts or actions, and that's like throwing another gut punch to him. So I think that's why he's so hyper-focused on the way she handles conflict because it keeps coming up in the way she handles things.
