I feel Yebba's "My Mind" performance requires some additional context. The emotion in this song is far from an act, and very real.
"Yebba has been an outspoken advocate for mental health awareness and support. Her mother died by suicide about a week after Yebba sang her first original song, causing "My Mind" to take on new meaning representing mental health. She says her artist name was chosen to honor her mother, who she said 'always called her by the nickname' (her name Abbey written backwards) as a child."
This recording was a from a performance within a year of her mother's death and she is truly singing her heart out; pouring every drop of heartache, sorrow, pain, and loss with every note she sings.
