Bon Appetit, Your Majesty EP3

I am a bit of a history buff and whenever I watch historical dramas (historical fiction/alt-history), I like comparing to real history and see how much is real and what is totally fictionalized. The producers of this drama already acknowledged this not being historically accurate by changing the names of the primary characters, but still quite a few things are historically accurate while many things are changed. Consort Kang's official title in this drama is Suk-won. (She is referred to as Suk-won and she also calls herself Suk-won in this drama but the subtitles changed it to Consort Kang or Kang Mok-ju). Suk-won k is the title of the Fourth Ranking Junior Consort in the royal concubine hierarchy. In real history though, Jang Nok-su was Suk-yeong - the Third Ranking Junior Consort. Also, in this drama, she is shown to be colluding with the King's enemies. But the real Jang Nok-su was the enabler in all of the King's tyrannical activities, and when he was finally deposed, she was executed at the orders of the new king (Yeonsangun's half-brother). The women who are present with the Grand Queen Dowager are two concubines of the former king (Yeonhuigun's father) and the Queen Dowager (Yeonhuigun's stepmom.) In real history though the Queen Dowager was Yeonsangun's aunt, not his step-mom. The part where Ji-young called the Grand Queen Dowager "Halmeoni" was so funny though 🤣 😂 😆 When Ji-young sees the court jester Gong-gil, she mentions the movie The King and the Clown. It is a real movie from mid-2000s. In the movie, Lee Joon-gi plays the role of Gong-gil. He is portrayed as an effeminate character in the movie. This was Lee Joon-gi's first lead role. It was also his breakthrough role. He won many awards for this role.
