In the previous episode (during the interview), we learn that the book is based on his story. The journalist asked him if he could tell her about the person who inspired him. His response was that he preferred not to because they didn't have a happy ending, contrary to the two protagonists in his book. When the show aired, there were so many discussions on social media about the possible ending. I thought like you, didn't mind whether they got back together or not. I don't think it's the point of the drama. You are here to feel real emotions, the angst, the longing. Amazing acting. At her door, you can clearly see a little reluctance when he touched her. Definitely in my top 5 dramas with The Trunk and One Spring Night.
