I think of the 2nd FL and ML as almost exact foils to the 1st ML and FL in a similar situation and the opposite end of the spectrum for how things could go. Both love stories end abruptly from one side with no explanation, with the side that left suddenly inserting themselves into the lives of the other. The main couple’s relationship lasted less than a day (the show makes it out to seem that Gyeom leaves right after their first kiss) while the 2nd ends after many years of dating. How each character grows up and approaches things is almost inverse of each other as well. After a random chance encounter, the 2FL insets herself much more directly into the 2ML’s life while Gyeom actually tries avoiding Mubee at first and trying to reinsert himself into her life slowly and more carefully. On the other end, while Mubee resolved her anger (thinking Gyeom just died and moving on to success in movies), the 2ML held onto his anger all this time (faltering in the thing he shared with his partner), thus how one reacts is much more sharp compared to the other. There are other things too, and it’s not a exact one for one thing, but the way I think about it is the writer showing both sides of the “long lost lover suddenly reappearing” trope to show it’s not always a perfect romantic situation (especially considering their last work Our Beloved Summer uses the exact same trope)

I mean come on, after that many years a normal person would have moved on. I think the writer is the main problem here. The actors can only do so much. Luckily, I love the FL & ML :)
