I know you’re already nearly done with stranger things and this comment is super late. I get why you’re always mad at them just not communicating but they kinda have to be separated so that when they come together they have all the pieces. Like with this season, you had to have the kids track billy to see what he was doing so they could know that the mind flayed was back. Nancy and Jonathan had to investigate the rat thing bc they’d be able to see what happens to that poor old lady and the fertiliser hint. Once they got that they allowed both of these two groups to meet bc they had similar info. Jonathan’s group had to investigate the Russian base bc then they’d be able to navigate the place when hopper and Joyce went there. Hopper and Joyce had to follow through with the kidnapping of alexi bc he’d give them the info to close the gate once they get to the Russian base. It all sorta just comes together. Without all of them doing their separate things, we wouldn’t have all this info to put together so they’d have a higher chance at winning.

So that's why whenever the demogorgon got hit, we never saw Will have any reaction to it. In season 2 however, when the mind flayer possessed him, in that one episode where the scientists were burning the upside down vines, Will felt it and started having a stroke. So the rule of "everything in the upside down is connected and everything there feels the same thing" has always been there, we're just seeing it more in season 3.
