Earth In-Laws are Wary

I'm continuing my quest to clean up the business end, and I have the Afterword for this book. I'm going to load it into Draft2Digital, which means I now have to decide between late January or late March, but I will put the files up here for download if you want one early. I think I will go for January. Maybe. Anyway, I always want to run the list of names past you guys. All Tuk-ranked get shout outs, but so does anyone who stuck with me through the end of the book with comments. So, let me know if I've gotten anything wrong (in this Afterword or the one for Flying Swords/Broken Hearts in the Hidden Kingdom)

Afterword

Sometimes it’s scary to come back to a series.  What if the people who loved the earlier books hate this one? What if I screw up?  On a standalone book, I can pretend it never happened, but writing in a series means risking doing damage to characters that people already love. It’s terrifying.  I’m writing the fifth book in the Claiming series, and I feel that even more than I did with this one.  However, I knew I had to write this because the conflict between Rick and his father has been in the back of my mind the entire time.  The Rownt seem perfect at first glance (although anyone who reads carefully knows that there are many humans who hate Rownt culture and have very specific reasons for that).  But I wanted a species that was just as screwed up as humans.

But I get so much encouragement and support from my supporters on Patreon. I want to specifically thank Sheena, Sarah, Saharra, Amelia, Jeanette, Angel, Carolyn, SG, Anne, Atheistic Snail, Carrie, Catherine, Gabrielle, Dr. Becky, Ryan, Kumi, and Damianne. They all provide the funding that keeps me going between books.

In addition to financial support, the muse needs feeding. Those would be comments, if you didn’t know.  The muse feeds on reviews and comments and questions. The more people talk, the more the muse wants to put more words out into the universe.  Mandy, Maria, Eija, Sophia, Becky, R Ramer, Emely, IndiraIsReading, Gabrielle, MicahInTheWoods, Elizabeth, Andy, and Tsubaki all kept this story flowing by leaving comments. So if you enjoyed this title, thank them as well. I would have disappeared along with the legions of brilliant fanfic writers before me without the constant support of the wonderful fans who support me, either on Patreon or by buying my books.  I’m going to ignore those of you who pirate the books.  Seriously, go borrow from a library. I get paid for that.

Comments

Hi! I just wondered if you get a larger percentage of the price through Smashwords or Patreon; I want to choose whichever option will give you the best return. If they are the same, does it help to boost your profile if more people purchase it through Smashwords? If so, I'll hold off and get the new releases there. Thank you!

No worries. You guys can read the unedited chapters anyway, but I did want to give you guys the early option since I've dragged my feet with the business end.

I'm really looking forward to reading this in its final form, but I will likely hold off and buy from Kobo or Smashwords vs through Patreon so no pressure there. : )
