The editing with Flying Swords was… terrible. Truly terrible. At one point he had to touch a plant to do magic, at another he could do it from a distance. At once point Aunty Daiyu complains that Heng never learned manners because his mother died so young, but then Mother Huiling is there. I swear, I have never written such a hot mess. But anyway, that drove me to do something else to feed the creativity. So I have been playing with watercolors.

I started with the top designed, the tree and ghost. I did a few, but I hate them. HATE. Painting the pumpkins was painful, and that is the whole reason why I like watercolors—no pain. So then I started doing some ghost dates (the second picture). Those are fun to paint.

I did a few random designs with ghosts (a pair of ghosts and ghost suitor)

Then I played with pumpkins. The top one is wet on dry (the paper wasn’t wet). The second is wet on wet. I wetted the paper first so you get more random running and mixing.

So… would anyone like a postcard? I can send you one blank—it’s a notecard on watercolor paper, which is thick. Or I can sign my name. Your choice. That way you can email me your mailing address (overseas people, this may take some time because I need to go to the post office to figure out postage). But by putting a comment here with what design you like, I can keep track of what I have or have not mailed yet.

Oh, and if a lot of people want the tree and ghost with the pumpkins hanging from the arching tree, I’ll do a drawing because I only have about three of those, and I don’t want to paint more. The stained glass pumpkins I could do forever. I do watercolors to feed my muse, not to torture myself with tiny jack-o lantern faces.
