Hi fellow Wizards and Necromancers!
In this tutorial we will continue painting the beautiful Plague Monk model from the new Skabikk Plaguepack – I will show you how I’ve painted the wooden staff on this miniature. Explanation on layer and glaze consistency is in the end of this tutorial. The PDF version of this tutorial is available below. Let’s get into it!
1. We will start with a layer consistency basecoat of the wood with Rhinox Hide. 1-2 coats of paint will be enough.

2. We will follow that with a drybrush of Mournfang Brown in a 3:1 mix with Yriel Yellow.

3. Next, to bring back some darkness in to the recesses in the wood, we will do some lining with a 1:1 mix of black and Rhinox Hide in layer consistency.

4. Next, time to bring those highlights to a brighter tone and we will do that by edge highlighting with a layer consistency coat of a 1:1 mix of Mournfang Brown and Cadian Fleshtone.

5. We will follow that with a layer consistency spot highlight with a 1:1:1 mix of Cadian Fleshtone, Yriel Yellow and Ushabti bone. Just add it on the areas that are sticking out the most.

6. In the final step, we will use Ushabti Bone in layer consistency to do a very selective edge highlight on just the brightest spots, son on curves and areas that have a super well defined surface.

And here is a collage for convenience:

Thank you very much for supporting me – it means the world to me! I dream of being able to paint and make tutorials full time, so if you like my Patreon – please tell your friends about it. It would make a massive difference to me and hopefully it will be beneficial for your friends too :)
*Layer consistently = paint mixed in a 1:1 ratio with water.
*Glaze consistently = paint mixed in a 1:3 ratio with water.
Best wishes,
