This is what Adham, the shopkeeper would say.
Be aware, there is a thick guard just sitting at the corner, watching you and making sure you don't leave the place if you are not allowed to.
However, something went wrong last night and someone had the cool Idea to make a heist.
Come to meet Adham and discover all the secret passages of this tiny shop!
If you are an adventurer you will also figure out that something went beyond "than just wrong" that night.

My original thought was to have a little space on the shelves to place an item or two. Your idea also makes sense - a completely empty shop would be useful for GMs who want to build a shop from scratch but also for a party to have their own storefront.

Or, do you really mean a single space as to create a quest ? More than maybe just let the party rent/buy the shop and furnish it? IDK if it makes sense π
