These photos are from years ago when I had just started exhibiting my Body as Temple nudes in art shows around the Los Angles area.
I went to a dance performance in Hollywood and they had an after party later where the audience mingled with the dancers. Laurel was one of the dancers that evening. She was the shortest dancer in the troupe but I was mesmerized by her emotional performance.
While nibbling on canapés and sipping white wine I was backing up from the crowded food table when I bumped right into Laurel. I started apologizing for my clumsiness but she shushed me and led me off to a balcony where we could converse more easily over the hubbub.
She had seen my latest art exhibit and several of her friends were in it. After embarrassing me with too much praise she said, “I know I am not as statuesque as some of my taller friends but I just adore your photography.” It was my turn to shush her and I said, “Yes, I would be delighted to do a shoot with you.”
She stood up on her toes and gave me the biggest hug. I loved the photos we created.
