Added 2021-05-17 01:13:27 +0000 UTCThere is a whole field of photography called “Glamor Photography” (or “Glamour” in UK!) comprised of pretty women in mildly sexual poses. It is the mainstay of many “Men’s” magazines, calendars that hang in mechanic shops, and a disproportionate number of IG accounts with huge followings.
A friend recently mentioned that women are obviously comfortable disrobing around me so why don’t I shoot more Glamor Photography?
It’s not because I think it is bad or wrong. Instead, I just find much of Glamor to be too cliched and boring. For me it is far more interesting to work with women who have some strengths and skills, such as yoga, dance, contortion, aerials or circus arts.
From time to time, though, I do end up shooting sensual imagery. After we have shot some yoga or dance nudes, a model will sometimes request that we create a more overtly sensual image. It is usually so they can get an art print to gift to a significant other in their life.
I have discovered that hiding the body a little bit, rather than showing everything, will often create a more alluring image.
