The Dim Fool scene was indeed a bit of commentary on some events. You know Tim Pool, right? When Studio FOW launched the crowdfunding campaign for Subverse, Tim was not happy about it. Tim had been using the name Subverse for a project he had going, a news site or something along those lines. He said he planned to fight for the name, but I didn't hear of anything coming from it. Either the fight really didn't go well for him, or he gave up quickly for some reason. My guess is, lawsuits are expensive, and his own Subverse wasn't making much money for him, so he reluctantly decided it wasn't worth fighting for the name after all.
