Update 14 - Loss of data

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the project has just suffered a very unfortunate setback. It's looking like Update 14 will be delayed at least a couple of months, however WIPs will still continue to go out every few weeks.
What's happened?
A few days ago, a portable drive containing the in-progress artwork for the game, along with other projects' data, was without request used and mishandled by a family member resulting in the drive's data being lost.
How did this happen?
The artwork for WOTG is produced on multiple different devices in an environment where internet connectivity is unreliable at best, meaning that cloud backups are not a reliable option. The choice was made to use a personal drive kept in a safe location, however this drive was over-written without consent and then given away. At this time, data recovery is almost certainly impossible, even if the drive is somehow reobtained.
The bad news
All in-progress artwork has been lost, including Terry's WG sprites and the higher WG sprites coming in the next few WIP builds. A repository of sent/received artwork is being built at the moment, but is unlikely to include absolutely everything. This could have additional impact on the project, but it's unclear what the scope of that is at the moment.
The good news
The current development build of the game was stored elsewhere, and the game code and existing (implemented) assets are 100% fine. Artwork will be remade as soon as possible, and all additional artwork funds collected during that period will go into a backlog for future updates' artwork.
What's the plan?
For now, I'd like to launch a poll for secondary objectives so that you guys can direct non-artwork-centric development on the game while the lost artwork is remade. I'll be implementing as much of it as I can until we're back on track to deliver Terry's content.

Also maybe put stuff in a password protected folder to prevent deletion

2021-04-29 19:05:54 +0000 UTCOoof that’s rough. I know the feeling though, my laptop died a few months ago and none of the files could be recovered including a ton of art :/ it’s really disheartening so I admire your determination in the face of this setback
