With I need you begins the creation of the parallel world created by BTS which is related to the Chaos theory or also known as the butterfly effect. This whole story continues to develop in the videos: Run, forever young, euphoria. Then this story continues with the album Wing (see the Short Film from 1 to 7 and the video of: Blood, sweat & tears). And then follows the album: Love yourself (see the highlight Reel and the video of Fake love). All these videos are connected to each other. In this story Jin tries several times to go back to the past to change the history of his friends so that they do not die, but whenever he tries to change something, it comes out worse. In the end, the reflection is that the past cannot be changed, that's why we must face the present, to be able to love themselves. There is a whole psychoanalytic concept behind each song and video. I wish you'd watch lyrics with videos for context. When you watch separately you don't know the scene, for example is it a scene of one guy or the whole group. Also, the choreography is for concerts. You've also just started a full era story, this is kind of like the introduction to the book. Next is all parts in order. It's complex, has 7 short videos explaining each guy's story, does have a book, and a webtoon. This fictional universe is dangerous territory - beware.

Sorry.. me again.. lastly.. 2 other things. The audience at Music Show know how perfectly to come in because there is a script for them for each song... they are given certain words or sentences to say at certain points. Sometimes there is a backing track that they have and also still sing live.... .lastly, they have sung and performed this at almost every concert ever since it's release... from Wings to Love Yourself (exception of the extension) except the Muster, Bang Bang Con and Map of the Soul One and Busan but they were individual concerts based on themes. They performed it most recently at their PTD concerts in the US and Seoul. It's often in a madly with Save Me.. PS.... love your reactions and your love for BTS.

The Most Beautiful Moments in Life (HYYH) album marks a change for BTS... it's all about youth, the challenges and beautiful moments... and yes, it's about BTS a lot! Up until this point they had thought several times they had a breakthrough song(Danger) and they hadn't managed to break through. They faced dark times... then this song arrived and is considered their breakthrough song.. it was their first Music Show win( this is huge....Music Show wins are where you get more recognition when starting out!).. they were still performing in Music Shows with ON years later...in Korea it's what they do... obviously after that Covid happened &then MS... secondly, there have been times when what JK &Jimin sing in the original recording has been swapped... (Danger too) just slightly. Many of the members say HYYH is one-off the most significant albums of their career. Thirdly.... orange haired Jimin is considered a menace to society in this era... soooo hot.. (Seb watch out!) and mint Suga too! Also, I pose a challenge to you... almost every album, performance etc has a Bangtantv Bomb or Bangtantv Episode to go with it for behind the scenes which add context, are interesting and always fun! The early ones dont have Eng subs but Bangtan Subs channel has all of the videos with the Eng subs... there is one of then winning their first Music Show with this song and their reaction to it... sooo lovely, so emotional. How about finding them and adding them too.... 5 in 1??? Or if too long then starting to go through them.. there are some real gems... from the very beginning until now. Welcome to the group of reactors who encounter I Need U... they all look as horrified as you when it gets about half way through. Jin is the visual story teller throughout the BU universe, you need to read up about it or there are some good videos on YT choose a recommended one though with the true storyline as some are not quite right. In Suchwita with Taemin, Taemin chose I Need U as one performance he remembers Jimin in first for his strength and BTS's hunger... he was so impressed by this performance.

The bangtan Universe crosses several albums starting with HYYH (Most beautiful moment in life) then wings and you will also find this one in the album Tear, in fake love there are also references. You can find a webtoon and books. It is an extremely rich and complex universe with Jin as the central character.

WELCOME TO THE BU (BANGTAN UNIVERSE) 🔥 Its a fictional (EMPHASIS ON FICTIONAL) storyline where BTS are playing a group of friends who met in highschool detention (??) and essentially what you're seeing in this MV is that when they're all together their life seems happy and ok but when they're apart they feel their struggles. Jimin is trying to drown himself in the bathtub, Yoongi sets himself on fire, Tae kills his dad who was abusing his sister, Namjoon gets disrespected at his gas station job (something even more serious happens with him after this altercation but you find out about that later), Jungkook purposely picks a fight with those guys so that they beat him up, Hobi takes medication (you find out what his medication is for later, I dont want to spoil it) and passes out on the sidewalk, and Jin is desperately trying to save everyone. You dont find out the reason why all the characters are struggling until later on in the storyline !! Also another reminder: this is NOT a reflection of bts' real life. Its a fake storyline. Even though all the characters have their real life names its NOT based on things that actually happened to them. Anyways im SOOOOOOO excited for you guys to dive further into this because it gets crazy and I just know yall are gonna eat it up 🔥🔥🔥

As you progress through the next few albums, the music video won't always directly correlate to the song lyrics, but the themes will be similar. Yes Ben this song has alot of emotion around hanging onto being idols when they weren't succeeding and weren't earning any money. It felt like only pain and they didnt want to keep going but knew they didnt want to let go. I love the way the lyrics are written so that people can take what they need from it. I deeply relate to this song through the idea of being in a toxic friendship, not a romantic relationship. The 'why do I keep coming back' concept. And fear of ending something that's familiar

Welcome to the BTS cinematic universe!!! Its insane, and an absolute rabbit hole to fully grasp. I got to learn about it one video at a time, but as you work through it, its an incredible story about mental health and friendship. I won't explain too much but yes the main theme is that finding your people can save you from the darkest things. Taehyung's character killed his abusive stepfather who was beating his sister. They all have their own storyline and Jin is the main character who has a really important role through out it!

The song was actually supposed to be "I Need You Friend" but RM said that didn't sound good so he changed it to Girl. But the song and the BU are not about girls or any breakups. Again, as I have seen you have been told numerous times, they did not do songs about just a simple breakup with a girl or about being in love. Almost every time they refer to a girl or love it is about ARMY. For the BU it's about the fictional storyline and some of the personal struggles each member has had. It is much deeper than that. It is also very confusing unless you know at least some of the storyline. You can certainly dive into the entire BU but it is a lot. It's amazing but can be hard to follow at times. I too would suggest Xceleste's video explaining the entire storyline 💜

Every time I watch this MV, it always feels like the first time. I’m so happy I found BTS during HYYH. I really needed music that carried so much emotion - the raw, painful, and darker side of youth!!! i guess the song itself can be about a breakup, however the MV has nothing to do with that since its part of the BTS UNIVERSE storyline. even early on in their career though, what ben was saying definitely still stands, considering most of the kpop industry releases (or used to) mostly love songs, especially at that time. so a breakup song would be a great way to conceal something deeper.

RM had talked abt it during one of his lives that the chorus part, "i need you, girl", was supposed to be " i need you, friend". but bcs friend didnt sound right melodically, RM changed it to girl. you'll figure out the context and why its not abt a relationship but rather abt a friendship when u dive into the bangtan universe

This was the turning point for BTS. As for the BU, maybe just know it exists and a little bit about it, but it is a TREMENDOUS amount of content and complicated information beyond the music. Good old k-pop lore Know that each boy has a tough story and Jin is the centerpiece, but it’s really about their connection to each other.

Ok so let’s get into the fictional storyline of the BU (bangtan universe) or HYYH( hwa yang yeon hwa/most beautiful moment in life). Lots of it was based on fan theories until we got more official content like the web toon and kdrama affirming it as well but the sort of gist of it (and ARMYs please correct anything I’ve got wrong or add information as I’ve not deep dived into the hyyh storyline since 2018) is that all the members are going through traumatic events that keep separating them (jail, hospitalisations, death etc) and Jin is the only one who can save them because he can timetravel but obviously when he manages to change one thing in the timeline something else bad happens so he’s kinda stuck in time loops. It’s all very nostalgic to army’s so anytime there’s a new music video we always try to connect to it to the hyyh storyline as there a lot of unanswered questions still and this era means SO MUCH to both ARMY and BTS. I NEED U especially is so crucial as it gave BTS their first win and without it they might have quit as they were reaching their breaking point following the low commercial success of Dark and Wild. Love your reaction!! So it's definitely a break up song, but also a new style BTS tried and it was their last chance, if this song flopped they were done for, Big Hit would have to close down. They used everything from managers as extra actors to their cars for production. This was a desperate dance. But also their most ambitious one. Their ambition also came in with BTS Universe Story line which has seperate family, personal stories for each of the members that ran through many videos, MVs and some writings as well. Those stories combine and give the message that with my friends I am a bit happier than alone. There is also Fantasy elements with Jin and V if you are interested to learn about it. This was the most popular time for theories about the videos and such so you might see recs from other Armies explaining the storyline. So they tried something new and innovative with their songs for this album, even a break up song in terms of lyrics became more interesting and break up started to mean more than just the interpretation of romantic relationships. Also, it really helps to watch the MV with the lyrics at the same time, because the lyrics and visuals are meant to go together. Sorry this is long, but it's worth the read, I Promise!! In this mv, the boys are shown separately dealing with their own struggles. Each boy is playing a character using their real names. Jin is the main character, and we don't find out much about his character in this, except how desperately he wants to save the boys. We got more information in their Notes, which is like a book series. You can find it online because they don't sell it physically anymore. It's mostly from Jin's pov, and it's really trippy and shocking, so I won't spoil that. But there's also Notes from each of the boys. And instead of using a date, they go by years of age to explain what's happening according to when. Anyway, each boy is depressed because they're not together anymore. When you see them all together having fun and smiling, those are flashbacks. But each boy drifted away from each other due to personal reasons. Namjoon left to go to the countryside with his family and leaves a note that you'll see in Run MV on a window before leaving, and it says "We Must Survive." He works part time jobs such as at the gas station to make money for his sick father. Yoongi got expelled from school because he hit a teacher that attacked Jungkook. Jungkook felt responsible and lost contact with all the boys, except by seeing Hoseok sometimes on his way to school. They were like family to him, and without them, he felt alone. His real family is ab•sive as his mother married a man with a son who always bullied him while she paid no attention to him or cared that he was suffering. Taehyung lives with his sister and alcoholic father. His mother left when they were kids leaving him to take care of his sister alone because the father was always drunk. Hoseok has an "illness" called Munchausen Syndrome that was caused by his mother abandoning him at a carnival when he was just a kid. She left him nothing but a candy bar and told him to close his eyes and count to ten, and when he opened his eyes, she was gone. He was then raised in an orphanage. Jimin suffers from seizures that are caused from a traumatic experience of watching a kid most likely get mu•dered. His mother sent him to a hospital after he had a seizure in front of Hoseok at a bus stop, and he was taken out of school. Jin moved to the US for 2 years, and came back to Korea to find all the boys lost contact. Hoseok would see Jungkook sometimes since he worked at a burger joint. But what you see here is their breaking points. This leads to their webtoon and bts universe game. Namjoon got fed up with a customer and got arrested. Taehyung really did stab his father to protect his sister which took his life, so he too was arrested. Hoseok almost overdosed, but turns out he fainted because of said illness which is actually not an illness at all. People develop it seeking for attention because of a traumatic experience. He then gets sent to the same hospital Jimin is at. Yoongi really did light his motel room on fire because he didn't want to live. Jimin really did drown in that bathtub because he was tired of disappointing his mother by having seizures and not getting better in the hospital. Jungkook really did get beat up on purpose because he just wanted to feel something. He felt worthless and alone. And he really did get hit by a car, but at this point in time, that was actually a future reference. In the timeline of the mv, he didn't get hit yet even though you see it here. In this timeline, Jungkook actually jumps from a building. Jin is so distraught by all of this and tries desperately to save the boys he grew to love after meeting them in detention. To find out more, you'll have to find out for yourselves.

Guys, in this case the video and the lyrics have no relation, since for the video they follow the story of the fictional universe of BTS, there is a comic on Webtoon called "save me" where they tell you the whole story of this fictional universe. But in summary, 7 friends have their family problems and suffer in loneliness, but when they are together they are happy and forget their suffering. Jin leaves the country for a while and little by little the group begins to separate, leading them to continue suffering their own problems until they make tragic decisions such as Suga who decides to take his own life in a fire, or J-Hope who takes many pills. Others have gotten into serious trouble like V for stabbing his father who abused the family. When Jin returns and finds out everything that happens to his friends, he decides that he wants to help them but he doesn't know how, then a spirit appears to him and grants him the power to go back in time, Jin uses this ability to save each of his friends, but the problem is that every time he tries to save one, the events change due to the butterfly effect, so he must find a way to help everyone in the same timeline. I hope I have explained it well, it is a very sad and beautiful story about youth, friendship, and the problems of life.
