RISE OF BANGTAN | Chapter 08: I Need U

RISE OF BANGTAN | Chapter 08: I Need U

Comments

god, watching your reaction makes me feel enjoy and pain at the same time. If just always boring, it’d be easy just unfollow and move on. But because your reactions are genuinely fun, it’s really painful having to sit through all the distractions during key moments without pausing, rewinding, or sometimes even missing major points entirely. honestly that painful it’s killing me. the reason I’m leaving this comment is because I do want to keep watching you guys make more content.

Cuz

So you had your first taste of the Bangtan Universe watching that "I Need You" MV. I swear the boys showed even their talents in acting because they did so well with these videos. When I first started watching I did not really understand because so much of their storylines seemed to be somewhat similar to their real life struggles. So to be clear, the Bangtan Universe is 100% fictional. I do think though that the storylines created through the MV's and their solo songs as well, did come from a place of some type of personal place, and I think it was genius because I'm sure it helped the guys get into character, and I actually believe that it helped them have an outlet with some of those emotions that everyone experiences during that time in their lives. So, no Tae did not stab his father in real life, but some of the emotions that he sings about in Stigma and Singularity come from a real place inside of him and this is true for the others and their struggles in the BU. You will really enjoy delving into this, it is truly masterful.

Sherry A

I love your chaos, it's very authentic so I think you guys do a good job of reigning it in most of the time. Charlie is correct, you guys match the energy and I love it. Now for some more background on some of what was talked about. HYBE which was built out of Big Hit (Big Hit still exists, it is an independent label under HYBE which was done by Bang PD so that BTS would always be independent and have control over their careers, although Bang PD also gifted BTS shares in HYBE as well, so they are a part of both entities) but Big Hit was not mentioned as one of those big 3 labels because they were an almost bankrupt label. In fact, there was a time when they told the guys they didn't have money to go on and they probably needed to find a new place to live but I think it was RM and SUGA were like, we're not going anywhere. It was VERY ROUGH, so the idea that only a year or so later they would even have the money to be able to manipulate the charts was ridiculous. But at the time that BTS won that first music show first place and when BTS started winning their awards it was literally unheard of for any group from a small company like theirs to ever receive such accolades and this made those 3 big companies very angry which is why they probably helped in starting those rumors which all turned out to obviously be false. But they didn't care, in SK it's so much about perception and the corrupt media is controlled by those big companies. Its a mess. But then so is our own music industry here in the west. Its corrupt as well. And it's crazy the amount of changes that Billboard has made to the rules for the Hot 100 EVERY TIME BTS charts. I'm not exaggerating, it is every single time, they change the rules to make it harder for BTS to chart. But as you pointed out, they were so excited to win that first music show and also just an fyi, there are multiple music shows every week, this is why when they have comebacks they are often performing night after night on different music shows. So here they are so excited after 3 mini albums to have their first music show win with their 4th mini album and then the hatred just amps up by the industry, the other idols, the other fans, and netizens. It still breaks my heart for them. I'm glad they really did show them all, but those young kids really went through a lot. The amount of hatred they got and honestly STILL get is so unfair and shameful, because theyve done NOTHING to deserve it. I think that now BTS earnings are more than every other idol group put together. It's crazy to see and even now those companies don't like that HYBE has surpassed them and HYBE wouldn't exist without BTS. But this is why ARMY is so protective of them, because they are still unjustly attacked and sabotaged in any way possible. But it also makes their success sweeter, because they never resorted to these sinister methods like payola or sagaegi, they rose to the top with talent and hard work and they deserve everything they get and more.

Sherry A

I like your energy. I understand that you want to keep it balanced, but I appreciate your authentic reactions. I like hearing your feedback on certain aspects of the videos you watch. Sure, you don't want to go on a tangent, but at the same time, I don't want you guys to feel like you need to be robotic or scripted. I am always amused watching your banter and genuine reactions, so please don't sway away from that. As for the content within the video itself... it can be a painful trip down memory lane for Armys because we remember how badly BTS were treated when they finally got the recognition they deserved. It was hard as hell to watch people crap all over them when they didn't do anything wrong and their only fault was becoming the success we always knew they were.

Nikia Sarang

I really enjoyed watching this with you.

CLC

"famous kpop group, half famous kpop group, nobody knows not famous kpop group......half famous kpop groups the groups that do okay...theyre the worst....please SHOW A LOT OF LOVE for the middle tier kpop groups the not so famous ones i dont wanna name any groups but you know who they are...right?" cuts to bts who was the half famous kpop group at the time. and yall didnt get that at all sigh.

tori

ugh yall missed everything of what they said in the beginning you need to LISTEN to whats being said to understand. not talk over it not talk about the visuals only or insignificant things like how long a groups been around. what theyre saying explains everything how it works and yall keep being confused by NOT LISTENING. its so frustrating cause youd get it if you paid attention.

tori

lmao love your reactions but idk how yall forget to put on subtitles when more than half the time its in korean and youre not understanding nothing being said. 1 it isnt even a music video or something where the visuals can speak for itsself even though you need to have subs on for bts songs but 2 its speaking theres no possible way for you to get what someone is speaking about without the captions unless you know the language. which to my knowledge you guys dont know korean. please try to remember to turn them on and if you realize after a bit re wind what you missed instead of going like you understood what happened before.

tori

very very very interesting point you bring up. bts were more popular outside of korea from the very beginning and it is mainly due to the sabotage their own country was trying to inflict on them for growing bigger than the idols from the 'big 3 companies' and also the message they were sharing through their music was heavily criticized and attacked since some older citizens would much prfer young adults to keep their head down and not cause trouble by questioning the status quo rather than break out of that mold and do what they truly desire

Mal

the difference betwee you guys and other reactors is that you guys are funny and full of personality and it feels like watching a friend

Mal

The hate BTS received in their own country was a big reason why their fans at home and internationally are so protective of them and why ARMY became so strong. They were the underdogs and we knew they were special and really talented as well as humble and through their vlogs really nice people.

Dale Allen

Jimin said in the video if they won they’d all perform the song wearing lipstick. He thought they probably would lose again. That’s why they are putting on lipstick

Dale Allen

Big Hit or HYBE is big now but not in the beginning when they debuted BTS

Dale Allen

Also the only thing is I want is for u guys to pause or rewind so u don’t miss anything(: I think most of us feel that way we don’t mind any of the talking I actually prefer hearing all the comments & things you have to say it’s just the talking OVER the videos you watch that gets frustrating when u miss things ! 💜

makizenin

Omggg pleasee watch the ending credits :( yall usually always watch it idk why u didn’t watch it this time but I like seeing u guys watch it😭😭

makizenin

The reason bts started gaining traction more globally rather than locally is because they filmed a lot of behind the scenes vlogs, clips & they were very prominently active on twitter & social media when most K-pop groups didn’t even have an account, etc so a lot of fans were introduced to them outside of korea which was not very usual for many kpop groups as they would be huge locally & we’re usually unknown outside of korea.

makizenin

For the bug question they did a little ding ding ding to rms answer meaning he was right😭 yall didn’t hear it lol

makizenin

U guys have to remember they were talking about big 3 privilege in the beginning of the video & bts was not a part of the big 3 companies so they lost and lost a lottt before they finally secured a win as it was pretty rare for a group from a small company to win any awards.

makizenin

I really really hope u guys react to this as it’s the start of the whole bangtan universe (the storyline within bts mvs) !!!

makizenin

U can’t rly make any assumptions about the song, video or the message w just those little clips lol.. gotta actually watch it and react to it! 💜 “I need u” mv + lyrics + live performance and/or dance practice

makizenin

yess it pains me lol 😭

lala

Its so interesting seeing people watch this all now, and not in real time like I was able to. The 'I need you' MV or BTS in general talked about topics, unspoken in Kpop before, which is why the reactions from other people were so big. It was once again, something new, even for BTS. They were literally revolutionizing the korean music industry with what they were doing.

Alexa 알렉사

i love that yall love bts but can we not shit on other kpop groups loll especially when u haven’t heard their music?

mishka

this! the song was not intended to be romantic as such. and the lyrics and the video aren't related

mani

Luv u guys , keep up the good work 💜💜💜💜

Nicole Burke

It’s like a cry for help, in this video they are generally talking about what happening in the youth (mostly) example, anxiety, suicidal tendencies, bullying, et al. Also, most of the members particularly Suga struggled depression in their early years. Anyway, V’s part in the MV, shows a brother that witnessing her sister being abused and stab the guy (father I think) to save the sister. Watch the MV the one with no edited/deleted part, there is also an MV that deleted V’s part.

Badatz Badatz

Idk if you guys will even see this or read this but, if you are interested in understanding the storyline of their MVs, You guys should watch them in order. You've gotten this far with BTS. Maybe it's time yall get into the Bangtan Universe? Here you have to focus more on what is happening in the videos especially with I NEED U and RUN: 1) I Need U (19+ ver) MV 2) Prologue (continuation to I Need U) 3) Run MV 4) Young forever MV Followed by the Short films: 5) Begin - Jungkook 6) Lie - Jimin 7) Stigma - V 8) First Love - Suga 9) Reflection - RM 10) MAMA - Jhope 11) Awake - Jin 12) Blood Sweat & Tears MV (Korean and Japanese version) Then the Highlight reels. There are 4 parts to this: 13) LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel ‘起’ 14) LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel '承' 15) LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel '轉' 16) LOVE YOURSELF Highlight Reel '起承轉結' Back to MVs: 17) Jungkook - Euphoria MV 18) Fake Love MV (Extended ver) 19) Jin - Epiphany 20) BTS Universe Story 花樣年華 'MAP OF THE SOUL' There are also great explanation videos regarding the Bangtan Universe on Youtube! And there's a whole webtoon about the story too! Hopefully you guys react to these! P.S. MAKE SURE SUBS ARE ON (if available). lol.

Iza_Bella

I always love your reactions but I wish you guys paid more attention to what's going on. I know we get distracted a lot but at least pause it or rewind the video. Also, the part where there were reactors -- You have to understand that it WAS very uncommon for kpop idols to release such dark videos (there are even 2 versions to the "I NEED U" MV. one of them being a 19+ version) and people who were following BTS from the start never expected they'd release an MV like that, hence their reactions. This was also the era when the "BANGTAN UNIVERSE" started. You may not be aware but BTS has this whole storyline. You have to watch the videos in order to understand what's going on. I recommend you get into it! It's so well written and the boys are actually amazing actors.

Iza_Bella

Right? These videos are from 2015. Everyone knew Bangtan as the hip hop boys and they never covered anything this dark. Forget them--KPOP never covered anything this dark. This was genuinely SHOCKING when it dropped.

SNBangtan

you guys wouldn’t get it.. you had to be there for that mv

Jay Ok

RM's was the correct answer about the bugs he had to memorise.

Bernadett Reina

I’ve missed these videos!!! Gonna go back and watch everything but to comment on the ending, agree that you have to find the energy that works for you all. I think the fandom can sometimes expect a lot, but as long as you retain your uniqueness and love for BTS, it’s all good. I don’t mind the goofing lol, and you don’t need to have an encyclopedic knowledge of everything BTS, including lipstick. I just enjoy watching your journey. And like Charlie said, you match the energy.

kika

If you think for a moment all the accusations of chart manipulation, fraudulence, cheating, and all other methods of corruption or shady dealings is over, think again Now that all of them went solo for a while, you couldn’t even imagine the accusations ppl throw at them, it’s crazy, they blame them left and right , all cuz they are successful and they’re faves tank deeper than the titanic, let me say one more thing, the war is not just between others fandoms but between army as well, the solo fanbases can get so ugly, they’re a group and forever will be BTS, please I beg you respect them all together and separately!!!

Margie ⭐️

Watching these chapters for the first time just made my love for our 7 grow. The hate they received, the hardships they endured because they're from a small company back then. They became a threat to the big 3 companies and it was their fans that came together to attack our 7. LOOK AT THEM NOW 😍 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Rauhina Winitana

ICONS

ellie:)<3

Someone asked Jimin what would he do if they won, and he said "I'd wear lipstick and sing I Need You" (you were talking when he said that 😅). It will take a bit getting used to (and practice) but honestly, the second any of you feels like you need to talk, just pause, if not honestly you really are going to miss parts ☺️💜.

Suttin More

There is no problem with you yapping, goofing or talking a lot, as long as you paused the video. Bec if you don't, you might miss some important details. Like in this episode, you didn't get what's the lipstick is for, when it was indeed mentioned in the video, if they win first prize, they will put lipstick on while performing. See? You didn't catch that even if you're not goofing around, how much more if you all are? That's all what the your viewers want.

it was a waterpark called 'Caribbean Bay'! it was an ad with 2PM and Girl's Generation (for anyone interested lol)

Please react to this amazing japanese song "your eyes tell" written by Jungkook 😍😍 https://youtu.be/Balxkj4gPME?si=9eI-DTbmyp12XoLa

Mutya Lestari

PLEASE REACT TO THE BU STORYLINE >>> I recommend you all watch this https://youtu.be/2-DEu3ZJtEU?feature=shared ONLY AFTER you react to: 1. I Need U 19+ 2. Prologue 3. Run (not run bts) 4. Love Yourself highlight reel As well as ALL the individual short film/mv's from their album Wings: 1. Begin 2. Lie 3. Stigma 4. First Love 5. Reflection 6. Mama 7. Awake I also forgot to add Blood Sweat & Tears Japanese version.. however for their Japanese songs, you have to post the reaction on YouTube without music because of copyright.. maybe not even the video at all over there. But a key scene is important to the storyline that involves Jin and Taehyung, so you can't skip it.

Kdrama Lover

i just finished watching!!! i dont think u need to talk less or change anything, just pause when u talk and go back 5-10 seconds in the video. that’s all. and ofc u dont have to be energetic in all ur videos. do what u feel like doing.

jungcookd

Omg you guys constantly talk over the voiceover and its driving me nuts

Jiminluver

We have fish out of water in California , USA

Beverly

I remember Backstreet Boys and Nysnc both performed all over Europe before they made their debut in the US. They did that so they’d be more seasoned for the US audience

Beverly

It’s like you’re watching your friends hanging out with someone else without you and you finally realize you’re not the only one they know 😅

Beverly

when are you guys reacting to bts mv by order

mitsui

Please React for I NEED U MV guys😍!

Echaaa

Also the hot guys ad I think was to promote a water park...or it might've been the pocari sweat drink lol I cant remember

Royal

Can confirm Epik High is still ongoing. i went to a concert recently.

Royal

An obvious TIP: The titles of the songs being played were displayed at the bottom left corner when the song starts playing 😉

J-Lee

id recommend yall to react to the full HYYH series so that you don’t miss out on a big part of bts - which is the storyline / BTS UNIVERSE through the MVS

Eleni Tamiolaki

Basically a lot of people were jealous of BTS’s organic growth (not relying on money).

Betty Suwan

dudes aussie and hates snakes😭😭

molwar

Hi Guys, another great one. To answer Charlies question. Its not really news that a band made it outside their homecountry. Look at Backstreet Boys or Nsyn! They started being successful in Europe than the US. Even though they "debuted" already in the US. As a matter a fact, Backstreet Boys got their success here in Germany. There is even a docu movie on Netflix.

Jo

Guys I love you reacting to their variety shows and their documentaries. But oh how I miss you reacting to the MVs! Still waiting for the reactions of their completely early pieces.

Luna Hae

I don’t mind the silly tangents, but please be diligent about missing content. If you guys are goofing and laughing over something you sometimes get back into the video and are still distracted about whatever you were talking about and end of missing 15 to 30 seconds. Like I’d rather you laugh it out and not “rush” to get back to the video only to miss some of it. This goes for going into a pause too. You will get distracted by something start goofing and then it takes 5 to 10 seconds to pause the video. And you almost NEVER go back to watch that part. Like sometimes but mostly whenever you guys pause you miss 10 - 40 seconds of content around the goofing.

Taylor

I understand why the person said to focus. It's frustrating sometimes when you guys talked while the video is still playing. Like in this video, for example... you were questioning why the boys applied lipstick when the won first place. Just minutes before that part, one of the member did mention that if they win, they'll apply the lipstick. but that's not really what's important. Just an example I can take from this video. On your previous videos, you did tend to talk without pausing. It's not about being focus, it's about not missing important parts, especially when BTS speak in Korean which we do not understand without having our eyes on the subs. With that being said however, I did enjoy your thoughts and discussion (which is why I subscribe to your patreon). Just not without pausing the video. Also, the reactor part when BTS released the I need you MV, shows that people are reacting to their videos in Real Time since the MV was released. This documentary included those reactors to emphasis how big BTS was outside of their own country. and it's interesting that Charlie realised the number of album sales for BTS was obvious. ARMY are willing to buy the album, as to why BTS always top the charts. Their album sales is what always keeping them winning because that's the only thing the people with power can't manipulate. God knows how the industry tried to crush these boys.

NSunny

Ben the eye twtch @18:50 🤣🤣🤣

Hi guys, thanks for the reaction been waiting for this💜 please react next to BTS HARDSHIPS 2013-2021 by xCeleste (army yt channel). So you can know some of the mistreatment/harassment bts have faced throughout the years tho it's not updated yet, it's until 2021 only, but you can still get the gist of what bts went through throughout their career.

Ashley Le

I really liked your reaction, one recommendation though, watch de video of I need you, is awesome, you'll see. I wish the best of luck, in jimin's words: you nice, keep going! Someday you'll understand jajaja

Verónica Bolaños

We say fish outta water in America lol

Rae Moretti

I don't mind the yapping, it's genuinely why I even watch reactions from time to time. If I/anyone else wants silence, they can watch the original content on their own 🤨 That said, the only thing I, and a lot of ARMYs ask for, that you've definitely gotten better at, is remembering to pause if you're going to yap. And also going back a few seconds before hitting play to recontextualize what's being said. That's really it. Some people want you to only commentate about BTS, but I like the segues and the "you know what this reminds me of?" bc it makes this whole thing feel like I'm hanging out with friends. Anyone who isn't interested in the personal anecdotes can leave, and this is coming from someone who was actually annoyed/skeptical with your earlier videos bc of how you did them. I've noticed a lot of improvements over your videos overall; the pausing, the occasional rewinding, and most refreshingly, the acknowledgment of the older members. tldr; just pause when you yap and maybe pay more attention to the captions too, even if it means rewinding a few times

chell

Watch till the end damn it

Nariman

I grew up in 6 states in the USA (Pacific Northwest and Midwest) and have been saying fish out of water when I was a kid in the 1970s.

Tammara Glauz

I love Charlie’s reaction, doesn’t talk much but when he does it’s on point🤩🤩keep it up boy🫰🏼

Marwa

thanks for the great reaction guys 💜

user134340

Texan here and we say fish out of water playing marco polo too lmao

em

It’s sad that you don’t pay attention to some important parts of

Crystel C.R

So much fun to watch the reactions every time,, love the rise of bangtan series 💜it’s so much to learn, watch and dive into with BTS, and there is a lot of sad and hardship parts but also funny and dorky parts and it’s all about learning, reflecting, appreciating , laughing and enjoying music and the artist behind it in your own way and time, it’s no wrong or right way to react ,ofc there’s always some parts to improve on and some important parts that may have been overseen and lost some attention ,but it’s all part of learning! I think the reactions are good, it’s you guys reacting in an honest matter being yourself and thats the fun part to watch, and watching you enjoy and appriciate to learn the journey and story of BTS as we all have once done ✨

apple1712

31:32 no seb not all yab a lot in fact most don’t talk over videos like you do,some watch like Charlie and its the best way of watching… attention to details 😘🤗 I support the new exclusive package but please act like you really do like our boys please, attention to details. Thanks Sincerely, I literally do skip most of the videos.

Amanda

BigBang are not together, what are you talking about? T.O.P. refuses to do anything with music and Seungri is blacklisted from Korea and not involved with the other members anymore.

Honey 0613

Personally, I adored this era and it hurts so much that despite everything that was achieved, the boys began to suffer so much.😢 I feel that because of these things they could not take the opportunity to properly enjoy this special and important moment in their lives and career.

Lindy

lala

Loved this 💜💜💜

Ana ramirez

So, I think you did not like hearing the reactors because you thought they were a bit cringe and the fact that you had the same reaction as them made you think that you were cringe too. I am not a shrink but that's what I think

Black Moon

now that I am watching this. Good job Ben for going back when you turned on the subs. It shows you are trying to improve. Great

Black Moon

The song I NEED YOU, the lyrics were originally ‘I need you friend’, but ‘I need you girl’ sounded better. If you watch the MV, it’s a group of boys who are friends, but as they grow up each has to deal with their own problems and traumas and they drift apart. But it’s during these dark times that they really need each other. Remember what Namjoon said in the beginning about this album? They decided to focus on the dark side of youth and growing up. All the things that happen to them in this MV are part of the fictional storyline of the BU (Bangtan Universe). There are elements and a backstory that are connected to each of the characters that the boys depict.

Filanthi

The reactors/reactions included in this video were added to provide context of how that MV was received at premiere, and the shift that was starting to take place for BTS. As I understand it, it was a pivotal point in their career/come up. Aneesa and co. expertly conveyed that, but you guys were a bit put off to fully receive it, it seems.

Rina J.

BTS came from the smallest company, The big three companies had the resources to make fancy videos, spend on promotions, their groups were alot more famous so they bagged more commercials which puts them out there, they had more say in the ins and outs of the industry, BTS really had to carve their way, the boys, the music team, production teams everybody. so that’s why the first win was so important, it was a ray of hope that they could survive.

Chris

ARMYs all over the world ADOREEEE korean ARMYs. They fought for the boys, cheered for them, participated in voting events, Korean ARMYs made it possible for the boys to stand a chance to survive in those initial years. They were big in korea first, but fanwars are brutal in korea. fans go to extremes to put other groups down. That’s why the allegations.

Chris

The episode “Rise of Bangtan: I NEED U” focuses on a crucial turning point in BTS’s career. It covers the release of I NEED U, the song that gave them their first major breakthrough, as well as their first music show win—an achievement that, at the time, led to accusations of chart manipulation. Despite the controversy, this moment marked the beginning of their rise, proving their growing influence in the industry. Beyond its commercial success, I NEED U also introduced the Bangtan Universe (BU)—a deep and intricate storyline woven throughout their music videos and additional content. This was the start of a narrative exploring themes of youth, struggles, and self-discovery, adding a whole new layer to BTS’s artistry. Since I knew you guys was reacting to this episode, I sent like 3 weeks ago some key points for Ripken to review as homework. This should help them better understand the significance of this moment in BTS’s history and the storytelling behind it.

Deborah Camara Kaplan

You guys missed so much of the video 🥲 You should really also react to bts’ hyhh era, it was a huge turning point in their careers. Their new stuff is still amazing but the storyline for I need u, run, butterfly and young forever is unmatched 🙌🏼

tassie 🖤

Epik High is still around and releasing music. I went to see them in concert last year in Melbourne.

Filanthi

FYI: BTS were *not* more popular in America. BTS got popular in Asia before the rest of the world. They were accused of sajaegi because other labels and fans in South Korea were mad they were winning, so they were making up lies about BTS to bring them down.

Nelle

They dont have to talk less - they literally just need to hit pause 😅

TbT

Please read this TripleTake!!!! Context is so important. And this explains some of the storyline really well!! (Still would love for you guys to go deeper into the storyline though. Maybe by watching a BTS storyline explained in YouTube or something )

Areli Garcia

Did you see the same thing I did?? They’re literally reacting authentically and enjoying themselves. If you guys keep commenting things like this you’re gonna make them not enjoy themselves anymore because they’re going to be too focused on not doing anything that the “fans” don’t like.

Areli Garcia

I really want to see you react to the story line of BTS’ songs. It’s really deep and talks about some real life stuff. It is SO deep and I hope you guys can react to it soon

Areli Garcia

NEED THE BON VOYAGE REACTION ASAP!!!!!!

Ella

I hope you guys can start reacting to their albums in order. I think it’s very necessary to be able to understand the storyline but also to be able to see the amazing messages in their songs. If you can do this, I hope you watch the lyric videos with the songs that don’t have mvs and watch the mvs for the ones that do. And at the end watch their concert performances.

Areli Garcia

Guys I am sorry if I come off rude but I am starting to think that you are just in a hurry to finish the video. Like you don’t rewind or pause, every video you watch has the answers to your questions but still in the end you are confused😣😣 If their content is too much for you or you ever get bored just stop reacting to BTS. Please you have to understand that we value their content a-lot so we get sad when you don’t pay attention.

You talked so much about abs and stuff like that over some of the most critical information about the Big 3 labels. Please, I'm asking the nicest I can... I'm truly not trying to come across angry or rude, just sincerely asking you to be more mindful of this information. If you're going to watch this particular show about BTS' rise - please pay attention to this information. You'll never understand why ARMY feels the way we do about some of the strife BTS went through, and advantages they never had, if you talk completely over this information and just focus on the visuals of music videos and stuff unrelated to what the voiceovers/captions say. You've done it a lot in past episodes, and you are in this one too. Talk about how long Epik High has been a group, that's fine, but please pause and when you unpause it please don't continue to talk over it more. It gives the impression you're watching it, but not really interested in learning.

Nelle

they reduced the off topic talking soo much, now they actually pause when they have something to say.. if you want a silent reaction it's better to watch the video yourself

I'm only worried about the dubbing into Portuguese, because when the content is exclusive to Patreon there is no dubbing into Portuguese

Leticia Mesquita

The MV for "I Need U" is part of BTS's storyline. I recommend you watch the MV and the videos about the story. There is also a drama about the story, called "Begins Youth". The events take place during BTS's 'The Most Beautiful Moment in Life' era.

rafa

Love a good Bangtan video💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Morgan💖

I love your reactions, but yes sometimes you guys talked off track too. But I prefer you guys talk but maybe talk a bit lesser next time. If you guys aren't talking, then it will be boring like watching it on my own and no point of me paying. Be yourself. You guys are doing a great job.

usha devi

Ben’s reaction to the reactors was hilarious

fatou ੈ✩‧₊˚

I`m going to have to cancel my membership you all talk to much you are missing so much of what they are saying other reactors don`t talk as much as you guys

Toni Sowell

It would be REALLY, REALLY good if you watched The Rise of Bangtan and then REVIEW the songs they were making at this time. It would make a lot of sense!

WHITE LANE STUDIO

And whoever is editing your content needs to keep the camera less on your facial reactions to something great so we as viewers can see the content too. We as viewers are sometimes missing out on impactful, exciting footage, just saying.

SAKURA

BTW, you were just fine with this reaction. For me it was just the right amount of your interactions and the reaction to the video. What I appreciate is that now you pause the video if you want to comment and have your conversations. Thank you.

BTS were first accused of sajaegi in 2015 after I Need U, the lead single from their third mini-album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life - Part 1 (HYYH Part 1), topped multiple major South Korean music charts. What further added fuel to the fire was that HYYH Part 1 was the best-selling album for a while, which resulted in BTS outselling BIGBANG. BTS came from a small company, so netizens couldn't believe they had succeeded over a legendary group from a Big3 label. Big Hit Entertainment was immediately accused of sajaegi. While the label denied the accusations, claiming that they did not have the resources to do so, many netizens did not believe them. The issue was finally put to rest after netizens found out that BTS had attracted a large global fanbase. Even before the release of their hit track Blood, Sweat and Tears back in 2016, the K-pop group had a massive fan following in Russian-speaking countries. Russian netizens explained that BTS' huge fan base in their countries had contributed to a sudden spike in album sales.

Chimchiminie

Can you react to the Music videos in chronological order? Or do an album review? ( or both? 😆)

SHERIN D

I feel like they wouldn’t enjoy the BU to be honest 🫠 they’ll react to the MV’s anyway but there’s so much content out there from the guys and I think the BU wouldn’t resonate w them 🤷🏼‍♀️

Andrea Thomas

I’m concerned nobody has answered the Marco Polo question 🤣 raised in California/Arizona when the person with they’re eyes closed yells fish out of water when they think someone got out of the pool

julissa weidemann

🖤 And their YouTube content is hilarious!

Whits

BTS are chaotic but also focus when they need to. I enjoy triple take’s personality and fun energy but I wish they’d focus more on the content and use the pause/rewind button

Ciera Divens

I cant enjoy your reactions anymore, I feel like you do no care about BTS instead are just here to make some quick easy cash

zx

You really should watch all of this before you continue with Run BTS! It's so much more important for baby army so you can understand their journey and why they are who they are.

Shelby9885

To be honest I just like you guys being yourselves, that’s what it’s all about, just be yourselves and keep uploading this fantastic content

Honestly I wish we got 2 of these weekly. This is my fav content from you guys. I don't mind when you get distracted, just pause or go back when you miss. Otherwise keep the energy

Please continue the rise of Bangtang 🙏 it's very hard to wait for so long 💔🙈

Nik Ami

As we previously advised, you should have reacted to the I Need U MV first before watching episode 8 of TROB. The I Need U song released in 2015 itself is about a dying relationship between two lovers. But in the context of the MV, it is about dying relationship between a young person and itself, about his happiness and his life. So in the MV each of the seven members tell its own story. JK's character is a wandering lost teen who ended up fighting with hoodlooms; Tae as a young boy had family problems and kills his father; Jimin suffers from depression and tried to kill himself but couldn't get himself to do it; Namjoon is like the only semi normal person who works at a gas station; Hobi like Jimin is also suicidal and tried to od on drugs; Yoongi tried to burn himself and Jin has the lighter character, seems to be happy. But Jin also technically stands for the other 6 members who had had experienced the happiness and sadness of being young.  This song was part of the song in BTS' Trilogy, The Most Beautiful Moment in Life or their  HYYH era (Hwang Yong Yeon Hwa), also known as the Bangtan Universe. It is a string of BTS' 3 album releases of BTS' albums with the same title. This became the launch pad of BTS' huge success as the biggest boy band in the world, which is why you will notice that the HYYH era is often mentioned.  Also it was during this era where you will notice that the boys have got rid of their punk visuals but shifted to a more softer, cleaner visual.

Chimchiminie

Please watch the outro at the end :)

I wanna believe you read our comments, so here's my shot; Here's the MV for I Need U, the song featured in this TRoB ep: https://youtu.be/jjskoRh8GTE?si=4gnyzRvpoC-cyfgY Now the MV's storyline is based on Bangtan Universe, which is quite massive. There's a summary of BU from xCeleste (Youtube), but I think we could start here for now. 🙂

Sedney Dioso

All I'm going to say is that the pause button is there for this very reason please use it.

TbT

So good rection! 😄😄 I missed 'The Rise of Bangtan’ reactions. I really enjoy your energy and all fun moments and conversations, but I also like you to pay attention to the video you are watching, so as long as the video is in pause every time you are going to say something and then concentrate on the video is fine for me☺️ I don't want you to stop being yourself because the people we see you enjoy as you are☺️ Thank you 💜💜

Laura

You guys are a bit all over the place in the timeline but that’s due to voting. It would be good to check out the music that’s in the chapters. The music & performances are where they poured in all their hard work, time and creativity. This period is super special (it’s the 10th anniversary this year!) the songs, the growth , the recognition, the BU (don’t got there - just know it exists & explains some things). Is there an Aussie ARMY that might be able to provide a bit of guidance? They get soooo many comments I’m sure it’s hard to keep up.

Whits

Been an army since Persona and I can tell you that reactors get totally overwhelmed by BU (they’re overwhelmed already) and we all know how it ends. It doesn’t. Waste of time imho.

Jill L

So I'll comment as I watch: This music video of "I need you" is the start of Bangtan Universe, BU, that tells a larger story that runs through many of their music videos and some other BTS content. The MV was not exactly related to the lyrics but it was the start of a storyline. The answer for the 3 bugs was what RM guessed, they said he got it right. The lipstick was because before the show they said that if they win they will put red lipstick on and sing the song (it was like a joke/dare). They won, so they did what they promised on live TV (the clip when they said that was in this episode you watched).

Georgiana S

Not that it matters, but Epik High are still together...they are now close with BTS. Several of the members really looked up to them and Tablo was even on Suga's show, Suchwita.

Dany

Excited for exclusive content 😀

j_y_o_t_i

Please watch 'I need you mv + live

j_y_o_t_i

Its been 12 years since BYS debuted (as of June 13, 2025) and BTS is still being accused of chart manipulation. Why? Because they can't fathom the fact that BTS is that popular and has a Fandom that stands behind them and supports them. Because they use their platform to speak in topics that are taboo or controversial and use their fame for good, give to charties and other artists don't. It's basically jealousy gone wild

Amanda Newbold

O.m.g you should React to that music video please I NEED YOU !!!

byE-ARMY

Just finished watching it. Love your reactions 😄 P.S. But y'all missed the whole outro after the main video😔 It's some good giggle cuts, so you should watch it till the end in the next reactions 🙏😄

Asi Dus

Exactly! They were seriously gonna disband because of their struggles with popularity in the industry.. but thankfully that one Hani fancam saved them and gave them a new chance to make more music and win awards. Ah Yeah was their first comeback after Up&Down and they beat everyone's expectations.

Kdrama Lover

In order to understand the music videos to the fullest you should check out the BTU. BTS Universe. Some of the earlier music videos play a theme in them that they made into a "movie" like theme called BTU. Trust me you won't be disappointed. I was like you when I first seen the mv for I Need U. Another army explained it to me and I went and watched it. And it made more sense to me after that.

Amanda Newbold

This era was the start of the Bangtan Universe (BU) aka the storyline that runs through their music. It includes music video snippets, notes from albums, webtoons (like comics), highlight reels, short films and more. It plays a crucial part in their music and this was the video that started it all! Part of the reason why we were all emotional, shocked and surprised by I NEED U was because we were like ‘what is happening, I want to know more’ to ‘OMG there’s a whole story, in fact universe that goes behind it’ and that was so awesome at the time because it was something so unexpected 💜

Rara_OT7

Like Seb said, BTS is chaotic, and that's absolutely one of the magnitude of things that we, as ARMY, love about them. So, just be yourself; I don't mind you guys being chaotic at all. Be authentic to yourself.

ArmyVoreJ

Yesss, they get so easily distracted and miss what it is written. 🫣🫣

Andreea

I Need U was the first song I ever heard from BTS and it instantly left an impression on me who was starting to leave the whole kpop scene. I was in my early 20s and I just remember adding the song to my iTunes and listening to it on repeat until it passed 200 plays along with Jungkook's solo song Begin. I didn't really get into the boys until 2017 before Billboards and realized I already loved their music.

Alishea

Love you guys💜

.

"exid robbed them" is so funny ik no one means harm when they say it but exid's budget consisted of 10 dollars and cornflakes at that time 😭

lala

Hi guys! First, thank you for this reaction. Since Seb asked what we think, here's my thoughts! I really love your reactions to BTS content. I just enjoy seeing people genuinely react to their stuff and appreciate them (it really boosts my dopamine 🤣). That's why I subscribed to your channel! I don't mind seeing your real personalities, but it makes me a bit sad when you talk a lot without really focusing. (Not because I don't love your talking - I do! But I get too upset to enjoy what you're saying because all I'm thinking is "NO you have to rewind because you missed something small and you won't get it now." Then it's me who can't even focus on your side talk because you're stopping during the most important moments and resuming after losing focus - which is why I say please REWIND!) My advice is to really WATCH - you don't have to comment constantly, just be yourselves and don't fake reactions. If you guys talk or lose focus, that's totally fine (happens to me too!), but maybe rewind those parts? I was curious about what you thought of what the other reactors were saying, but you seemed distracted by the fact that they were reacting, and maybe felt you needed to react the same way (which I don't recommend since it'll show if you're faking - please just be yourselves!). If you ever get bored, it's okay to stop and say so, but forcing yourself to continue really shows. Hope you take this lightly because I genuinely care about your reactions! 💜

ray

The HYYH Era (The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Era) was an emotional era for me. I think a lot of ARMYs can agree to this. BTS had an incredibly hard time during this period, but it was the period also where everything started to fall into place for them and me as an ARMY felt so, so happy at the time that it did so finally. I wasn’t there fully for this era but the times I was there you can tell how much each achievement meant to them. I don’t know if you know how big of a trajectory this was for them. Their whole I guess vibe changed. The colours, the set design, THE STORY, it all took a new turn. This was big for them 💜 As much as I love the old bad-boy BTS, I think this era was where they began to find their own colour and their own sound and who they are as artists but that’s just my opinion

Rara_OT7

Thank you for your reaction! I hope you guys never lose your own enjoyment for the content you react to. Please don't let negative criticism discourage you or make you lose interest! Fighting!

Michaela

WHAT SHE SAID FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!! Lol

BTS SAVED ME

I would literally do anything to turn back time 🥹

J-Lee

Exactly, they should watch more of their songs and music and then watch this type of content.

Liliarmy

See with all thw talking you missing the point if seeing the other reaction. It shows the emotional connection ARMY has with these boys and this Video was one of the turning points of BTS. You all asked about doing a tier system. You need to learn more about the boys before you can do that. This video was totally opposite of the lyrics in retrospect this qas just the beginning to wait we call thr BU or Bangtan universe. If rather you watch then at the end discuss because alot of the video answer the question and you miss very important meanings and content!!

Deleah Smith

Reaction a DOPE of BTS now

Hearly JP

And (about what you said at the end of the video) guys it’s totally okay if you get sidetracked there’s no issue with that. We love that you laugh and have fun while filming. We just don’t want you to miss part of what you’re reacting to. So as long as you talk and laugh while the video is paused there’s nothing wrong!

Loubna

Discussion at the very end: here's my take guys, I like how you've improved as you watched TRoB. I think you've appreciated BTS more compared to your earlier reactions of their songs that you didn't even read the lyrics and just reacted how you wanted, using comparisons of the members as basis of how much you like one over the other. Now you're getting more attentive to details, ofc no one's perfect so you're missing a few important ones. And you're paying attention to all the members now, so that's a big improvement. So overall, I'm happy with how you're progressing in your BTS journey. Pls continue to give us more worthwhile and more quality content. Thank you 💜

J-Lee

Guys, here's some trivia for y'all! ☺️ - The lyrics do mention 'a girl' but originally it was about a friend. It was just changed to a girl due to it sounding better and thus can also be interpreted to be about a girl. - The MV is part of a bigger concept called 'BU' that includes games, short films, comics, and several music videos. It's a whole deep dive if y'all want to get into that.

Sonja

It's time to watch all of bts's MVs since their debut! They were all shown partially in Rise of Bangtan

Валентина Кабанова

BTS is from a small poor company but they were accused of buying awards, buying charts. This happened because the Big 3 owns the media too.

Валентина Кабанова

You should not take away your personality or your way of reacting. It is more about, when you do go into your sidetopics or giggle moments - pause the video and when you restart maybe go back a few seconds if you missed something. For example in this video, with the fish task you got annoyed that you didn’t get the answer - if you paid more attention you would have noticed that you got the answer to the fish game 😆 so it’s more stuff like that, when you expose yourself that you didn’t pay attention to the video. But in general, do not take away anything from how you do reactions or how chaotic you are. Just make sure whenever the chaotic moment is over you are back, and able to focus 🥰

Isa__

Same thoughts, sis.🥲

Carla

I don't think they're that type of reactors. They only watch whats popular or a lot of views. 🥲

Carla

Hahaha this is so true! And I guess thats why they're always jumping into conclusions and always confused cause there's no order on what they will watch and no guidance. I mean at first it was okay but it has been a couple of months and everything has been so random 😅

Carla

Their attention span for these types of videos are a bit short I guess and I think they enjoy performance videos more.

Carla

Yall need to react to all their MVs pleaseeee before you start doing concerts and Bon voyage.

Ayan

So I was really excited to see this..but honestly, I was a bit disappointed that you guys missed the reason why they did not win at first...the reason was mentioned from the get go ...the Big 3 (SM, YG, JYP)...their artists got the dibs in essence in the Kpop industry. Big Hit was out of the picture. Also, RM got the correct answer ("bugs" game). And the lipstick...Jimin said that in the video -if they win first place they will put on lipstick. If you have been paying closer attention, the Rise of Bangtan offers historical references about the Kpop industry, South Korea, other bands, for better understanding of how it started for BTS and why they had/have to work sooo hard to be recognized and eventually dominate. I wish you'd let the video play a little longer and listen/read more than talk..I mean we love your banters...sometimes they can get too distracting and out of bounds that you lose the mood when you hit the play button again...unless you rewind maybe for 10 seconds....and yes I think you will learn from other reactors too. Lastly, you may need someone immediately or 2-3 people in the future to help you get organized with your reaction content, schedule, etc. Thank you for taking the time to do this reaction.

Realtor Darlene Dato-on

ayyy new clothes who this😌😆

Ayan

Cant believe you guys still haven't listened to 'I need you' yet, guys listen to their songs first please!! They are artists and you are not watching their actual work? Imagine you keep watching documentaries about a famous painter but you haven't even seen any of their main paintings yet, strange no? Its been months but still you dont know OG songs like 'I need you', no more dream, no, dope, on, we are bulletproof pt2, bapsae?

Bunny

Fish out of water is international!

Jesse Duckett

I Need U is a very special song and era for our boys as this was their first win after 3 albums and almost 6 years of hard work (from trainee days). I guess people outside of Korea were drawn to BTS' music more as it was not the stereotypical Kpop music. As for the other groups, mostly from the big 3, their music were the usual music known in SK. So BTS received an enormous hate amongst other fandoms. Can't imagine how difficult it was for BTS and ARMY at that time. They were relatively small back then. I'm so thankful for them fighting for our boys, otherwise, the members would've given up early in their career and there won't be the BTS that we know now and the members that those solos stans know today so be grateful lol 😆 I'm so proud of BTS and ARMY. OT7 for life 💜

J-Lee

I can't with Seb 😂😂😂 Charlie: You've got three hot guys so now you're wondering what the ad was about. Seb: Yeah, I am now wondering what the ad was about.

Sonja

Actually the I need you MV isn’t related to the lyrics at all It follow its own storyline ngl the moment you guys saw other reactors pop on the screen was hilarious 😭

Loubna

Actually every group will make their various ceremony on the stage if they win the music show . Like bts right now their ceremony is put lipstick on .

Hye Ri Ah

I think overall its not about taking your personalities from the reaction but instead pausing and going back slightly so you don’t miss anything, I think a lot of the frustration comes from something already being explained and you guys going into a tangent because you missed it whilst talking/laughing about something else. The Armys that watch your videos, do it because they like you guys as reactors we don’t want you to change yourselves but instead just being considerate of what you’re watching. Go back if you need to read something , go back if you missed something, so you don’t lose important intel. It’s less for us and more for you in the end. That’s it, I don’t normally comment but it’s hard for me to see people think that the issues being them, we love your reactions and don’t want you to change! Overall thank you for the video!

Mara Eliza

OMG seb! Same on hating snakes. I can’t stand them, just looking at them makes my skin crawl 🤢. Am not alone

Owlett

I just have a question or rather curious, if you guys someday in the future would want to react to other K-pop songs/groups? I don’t mind either way because I’m still going to support if you choose to do only BTS! ✨Keep being awesome as always✨

Ida Olsson

their first win was too emotional and we were all crying sobbing on twitter (og armys might remember May 5, 2015)

simge

I recommend you all react to this https://youtu.be/2-DEu3ZJtEU?feature=shared ONLY AFTER you react to: 1. I Need U 19+ 2. Prologue 3. Run (not run bts) 4. Love Yourself short film As well as ALL the individual short film/mv's: 1. Begin 2. Lie 3.

And since you’re starting Bon Voyage, watch it together with Behind Cam! There’s one for every episode with extra footage. If you’ve already seen some episodes, you’ve probably noticed that the members also have cameras. Most of the footage they filmed ended up in Behind Cam

Petra

Yay! More Rise of Bangtan! This series really is so well made. I can’t wait for next episodes, deleted scenes and bonus content😊

Petra

But EXID were struggling with popularity too.. they were on the brink of disbanding, but Hani's viral fancam saved them, so they were able to make more music and win awards. Ah Yeah showed their hard work. I Need U definitely deserved the win, but it's ignorant to discredit EXID like that..

Kdrama Lover

What is going on with the lipstick? Again, you missed that part when Jimin was asked what they're gonna do if they win and Jimin said they're put on a lipstick. Would be so nice if you'd really pay attention you guys. All your questions are in the video. You just have to pay attention.

Bulletproof Girl

Also, I think the OG ARMY reactors contributed a lot to BTS global popularity too. They were able to introduce Kpop and BTS to people who don't even know what Kpop was. So kudos to them!

J-Lee

Not just bts.. other groups do too. Unless it started with bts?

Kdrama Lover

About the « hot guys » it was a song/ad made between a boygroup and girl group for a resort

Ailaudy93

The reason why most ARMY here wished that you watch I Need U music video first so you can see it first and understand the story of it first bcos not the whole video was shown in The Rise of Bangtan. 😊

J-Lee

ARMYs usually have "fan chants" for most songs. It was officially released by Big Hit and ARMYs study it so we're in unison when BTS sings the songs. It's a norm in Kpop, for the reason not to sing along with the idols and overpower their voices and drown them with cheering.

J-Lee

The other reactors featured in the video were mostly OG ARMYs. Imagine getting used to BTS as young baby bangtans, then watching for the first time V stabbing someone and JK getting beat up. It was an era of a drastic change for OG ARMYs that's why some were even tearing up. I also did when I watched the video for the first time. It was like a rollercoaster of emotions. So yeah, Ben got some of that right.

J-Lee

He did get the correct answer for those three. You just missed that quick part but there was a sound indicating rm got the answer correct. This is why you need to pay attention and pause when you are talking. I thought you already said you'd pause when you're talking and that you'd be less distracted.

Bulletproof Girl

Daena

Pls react to sugas drinking show, where he interviews solo bts members 🙌🏼👏🏼

Livi

Seb is already analyzing the song without watching the MV. You might want to watch the I Need U MV first and maybe watch a summary of the BTS Universe. There are BTS MVs that are connected to each other and are part of that story. It's funny how you guys felt weird watching other reactors. You can actually learn a lot from watching other reactors. Those who have been ARMYs and long time reactors. That'll make your contents better. Also Ive been hoping you'll have a weekly or monthly calendar so we know what's in store for us but you havent done that. And it seems you have forgotten the polls and you're just kind of jumping here and there. It's nice if that randomness works for you but for people who want to know what to expect when we subscribe, It'd be so nice to know what's in store for us.

Bulletproof Girl

Hey guys!! Loved the reaction ❤️ just wanted to say that it's been a few months since you started your journey so I think it's about time you organized your schedule so that we would know before hand as to which days of the week you are gonna release a video and maybe fix a time for when yall drop the video too so that we wont have to wait hopelessly as its pretty annoying when we are expecting and yall dont post anything. I would also suggest making slots for different reactions throughoutthe week, for example; one day could be reserved for rise of bangtan the other for run bts episodes while another one for bts as a whole group music reaction and then maybe another day for just exclusive patreon content like bon voyage and in the soop and then the other days you could post reaction to solo members content, that way it's create a good balance and the people who have paid for patreon will actually feel like it's worth it. And it's only 5 days a week so I think it's doable as you will get 2 days of no posting too!! It's been too long and your inconsistency and your attention span is one of your cons also the fact that there's no organised release of content at all. Considering all the comments on previous videos I hope yall are paying more attention to the videos and taking it as constructive criticism! Apart from this I really enjoy watching yall 😌 ☺️ 💕 Borahae 💜

hobbityhoppoppitybopp

I wish you had watched I Need U's music video (19+ version), dance practice and live performance first. Nevertheless, thank you for this video. Still very happy to rewatch this with y'all 💜 Also, it would be nice to watch the episode with the Bonus content or Deleted scenes too. They're just something to lighten up the vibe after an intense chapter 😉🥰💜
