WE HAVE FINALLY LEARNED THEIR NAMES!! 😀😄🥳
THIS IS AN EARLY ACCESS DROP
YouTube release date: 3/11/2024 12am AEST
I’m sure you’ve heard by now…Kim is Namjoon’s last name. In Korea they say the last name first

V is the most handsome in the group. Jimin has exotic beauty and knows how to carry himself. He is a person who can make any outfit look good that is why he is called the "sold-out king." He has a charismatic presence.

it’s not fully explained in the video but you guys talking about being part of the group bc of looks is so real bc Jin was literally scouted off the street randomly bc the scout thought he was really good looking. he didn’t even sing, he was studying drama 😭

It depends on how long the video is that I'm doing and whether I can find subtitles to extract from another video as a start off point or how many sources I need to use to get a good version of subtitles. I'm not Korean so to be fair and transparent I have to find other translations in order to add them to my own videos. But when I do the song subtitles I usually use the BangtanTV MV subtitles if they have them and if it's a song without subtitles then I usually use Dooglset for the translations to add to the songs. So, it just depends on those things.

I love everything you just said. American hustle Life BTS, in the beginning was painfully hard to watch, and I have no idea why anyone ever thought about doing that, it also showed their humble beginnings. They made a lot of lasting friendships, and really showed how dedicated they were even back then. Not to mention the special bond between ChimChim and Tony.

Guys, I like your reactions. Hopefully, you could also be transparent as to how many reactions per week you'll be posting. I am subscribed to your $4 tier and as someone who's been supporting other patreon channels who react to BTS contents for a long time, this is the first time I have subscribed without knowing how many contents you will be posting every week, so I am asking now to make sure my subscription is all worth it. Normally, for that amount, creators post 3 to 4 reactions per week. Let me know. Thanks!

I happened to see a short clip on my twitter timeline of this video where you’re talking about understanding why we are so protective of BTS and how amazing each of them are, so I watched the whole video and signed up here. I have only ever signed up for one other Patreon but I have to say, following someone’s journey from the beginning is incredibly fun, because you’re getting to relive it yourself.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this reaction but mostly love and appreciate the insightful conclusions y’all came to from this one video.
You’re in for a ride! The amount of content available is bar-none! In fact, I have lived & breathed BTS for 3 years and I still have not seen everything.
I know it will be hard to decide what to watch first, second, and so on. It will be hard to not jump around especially because content is still produced even as the last 5 are still in the military.
But if you really want to do a deep dive into them and learn not just their music but as you’ve pointed out the strengths of their characters I suggest you maybe map out some type of schedule.
Suggestion - perhaps follow some kind of order but with various themes .. so like:
1. Start from debut & do reactions to full discography — the core is their music & lyrics — the journey of their music is a journey of their lives because their music is so personal.
2. Documentaries & YT Guide or themed videos made by ARMY (some are very informative)
In order:
Burn the Stage (Movie) - YT
Bring the Soul (Movie & Series)- Weverse
Break the Silence (Movie & Series) - Weverse
BTS Monuments: Beyond the Stage (Series) - Disney+
A fabulous fan made documentary-series is Rise of Bangtan on YT.
XCeleste on YT has some great guide videos too. And I know others have shared some others here too.
3. Their self-made shows.
Run BTS - variety show where they play games or do challenges. This is hilarious & fun to watch and a great way to get to know the guys and see their familial interactions.
Bon Voyage Seasons 1-4 - these are vacations they took together .. again a very fun way to get to know them
In the Soop Seasons 1-2 - this was like Bon Voyage but since it was the pandemic it was in one location.
American Hustle Life - this is a controversial series that many ARMY won’t watch because of some instances that were not cool that they did to BTS. However, IMO it’s a good series to watch to see how dedicated to learning they were/are. They came to the USA to be trained in ‘hip hop life’ and were given challenges and had a showcase at the end. This was filmed in 2014 so very early, but it showed how hard they worked and with a language barrier that they never let stand in the way. Some parts make you angry cuz some ppl were rather disrespectful to them but it’s still worth a watch. But even they still talk about this experience.
BTS Rookie King - series - this was hilarious too & the first version of what became Run BTS.
4. Live performances
There are so many available. From awards show performances where BTS always turns the show into their own concert - some amazing performances are on these shows.
There are videos of all of their concert tours. Some on Weverse, some on DVD but you can always find videos.
Their last tour ‘Permission to Dance’ concert in LA is on Disney+
Their very last concert together ‘Yet To Come’ is on Amazon Prime
5. Solo Music & Documentaries
Then you could journey into their solos. As I’m sure you’ve been told they paused their group activities in 2022 because in SK all men are required to serve 18 months in the military. Jin was the first to enlist & is now out and preparing to release his first solo album. But the other members released solo albums and solo content like documentaries about their individual solo journey before they enlisted.
j-hope performed at Lollapalooza in 2022
JK performed at the opening ceremony of the World Cup & at Times Square
SUGA (AgustD) had a solo tour in 2023
And the others had solo content & performances as well.
j-hope & SUGA have documentary’s on Disney+
j-hope has a dance series on Amazon Prime
Jimin has a documentary on Weverse
RM & JK have documentaries that either are in cinemas or will be soon.
Jimin & JK have a travel series on Disney+
As you heard in this video they also have music they released on SoundCloud. So originally when a member wanted to release music on their own they released it for free on SoundCloud. So the 3 rappers all had what they called mix-tape’s that had been released prior to their solo era that started in 2022. When this era started they all released those albums officially so now they are available on streaming platforms. So you have those early solo albums to work thru as well.
Then there are vlogs that started before they even debuted — this was one reason why they said they kept V hidden. The guys would do video diaries before they debuted but they never showed V until they debuted .. that’s why he was a surprise. But these vlogs are all on Weverse. And there are Bangtan Bombs and Bangtan Episodes on YT that are behind the scenes videos. And honestly so much more.
But you could like do one reaction from each section and that way you have a variety of content that you’re going thru.
Obviously, I’m just offering a suggestion — goodness there’s no right way and there’s so much that it can be overwhelming. But one thing for certain is that if you want to learn about why ARMY loves BTS so much, it’s partially because we’ve all, no matter when we found BTS, been able to witness their journey from the beginning, because it’s all available to see & so no matter when you start you can feel like you’ve been there thru it all.
Anyway, I can’t wait to watch your journey.
Also, if you reach out to me, I have many of these videos available and I’d be happy to give you access to them, I just don’t put the links out in public cuz I don’t want them to get taken down.
I have also subtitled many of the concerts songs. Most DVD content will be subtitled for their speaking, but the songs are not subtitled. I have gone thru many of them and added subtitles to the songs themselves because the lyrics are so important to me.

In terms of cities, BTS is a rarity and unique group in the industry because every single member was born in South Korea and purely South Korean. This is true of some other Kpop groups but quite rare where most other groups have members of born in other countries or those of Chinese, Japanese, mixed descent).
This allows other groups some diversity and unique perspectives in their music, content and interactions.
In the same vein, BTS brings a refreshing sense of colloquiality into their music & interactions and a sense of familiarity and commiseration with their audiences.
Jin is from Gwacheon (a municipality in Seoul), Seoul (capital of South Korea
RM is from Ilsan (municipality in outskirts of Seoul)
J-Hope is from Gwangju (a province in S. Korea about 2 hours away from Seoul by train)
Suga and V are from Daegu (another province in S. Korea about 4 hours away from Seoul by train)
Jimin and Jungkook are from Busan (another province in S. Korea about 3+ hours away from Seoul by train)
The provinces all have different dialects and accents so most members had to learn and communicate in the Seoul dialect when they became trainees. This is in part due to much of broadcasting/entertainment content being Seoul based and lots of people seeing Seoul as more sophisticated and sort of upholding Seoul dialect as superior. (not my opinion)
Sometimes you can hear the members slipping into their native dialect in emotionally charged situations or in much of earlier content as they were still getting used to the Seoul dialect.

Not sure if someone mentioned this about the roles but just for extra information/help, here are some more definitions/explanations.
Leader: that's obvious
Main vocal: the ones who sings the most/ has the most singing lines in a song
Lead vocal: the ones who tend to start a song
Main dancer: the ones who tend to have the most dancing parts or more intricate dance moves in a song
Lead dancer: the ones who usually tend to be in the centre of the dances especially with groups, they have formations they need to go in and out of; and the lead dancers usually take centre point so the formation can come together
Maknae (translates to "youngest" in korean): so that is the youngest member in the group which is Jungkook; this term is genderfluid
Mat hyung (translates to "oldest male/guy" in korean): so that is the oldest male in the group which is Jin; note this is for males so there is another term for oldest females
Visual: the ones who are pushed as aesthetically pleasing/good looking
Some other roles/references specific to BTS which would be helpful in future content:
Rap line: essentially the members who rap which are Suga, RM and J-Hope
Vocal line: essentially the members who sing which are Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook
Hyung Line: which means the older members in the group, Jin, Suga, RM and J-Hope
Maknae line: which means the younger members in the group, Jimin, V and Jungkook
Dance line: which means the members who are in charge of dance, J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook (they produce additional specific content as a trio where they do dance covers or in some earlier years have special performances
*note that trio has expanded to a quartet since May 2018 when V joined that dance line and was recognised by their lead choreographer/artistic director as being exceptionally good at dance too*
Visual line: essentially the members who generally look more aesthetically pleasing which are Jin, V and Jungkook (of course that is subjective and everyone has their own types but I am just explaining the terms here)
Busan line ("Busan" is a port city/province in S. Korea renowned for seafood): and the 2 members who hail from Busan are Jimin and Jungkook
Daegu line ("Daegu" is another city/province in S. Korea renowned for apples/strawberries: and the 2 members who hail from Daegu are Suga and V
Kim line: the members who have "Kim" as their surname which is Jin, RM and V
Sunshine/Beagle line: the members who tend to goof off/ create chaos; which are J-Hope, Jimin and V
The 94-line/liners: essentially those who were born in 1994 which are J-Hope and RM
The 95-line/liners: essentially those who were born in 1995 which are Jimin and V
JiJinJung: which is the trio of Jin, Jimin and Jungkook who tend to livestream together and just have fun, create hilarious chaos together
Nickname wise, there are tons (so we won't overwhelm you) but this is one you'll come across most readily:
Hwangeum maknae (translates to "golden youngest" in Korean): it is a nickname given to Jungkook by RM as the he was such an allrounder and talented in everything he set out to do so that affectionate nickname has since stuck and BTS always refer to Jungkook that way
Please feel free to add on if I missed any lines.
So basically those are referred to quite a lot in videos as forms of endearment/camaraderie between members and easy referencing for creators. :)))

Yes that's right. I see the guys mentioning about how the group must have been known prior but it does not really work that way in the Kpop industry. Some groups who are from the Big3 or the more well known Kpop companies have it easier as their company would promote them on stuff like variety shows or content in collaborations with already well established groups/celebrities.
The usual route is:
1) company management/execs want to form a group
2) they can pick people to join the company (these people can be from auditions or were scouted or from an existing pool of people that the company manages)
3) those people are called trainees as they go through a period of training: training in singing, dancing, rapping, social skills, character discipline and the like
4) from that pool of trainees, the group is formed but this is merely first draft as many of them can leave the group or be cut from the group if the company feels like there is no group synergy or their individual abilities are not up to par and such
5) these groups are usually very fluid with many getting put into and cut out of the group until the company is satisfied with it as they need a good combination of skills, talent, star factor and some cohesiveness
6) once the group is decided, stage names are decided, roles are reaffirmed (who will be leader, main dancer, rapper, vocals etc)
7) then they prepare for debut.
^All that can take up to years to occur and it is variable: for some it takes 6-7 years moving in and out of different groups and even different companies until they are finalised.
But for our Jimin (last member to join BTS), he had a 3 month training period which is considered really short and a rarity but that's usually because someone is exceptionally talented and they want them in a group no matter what so they can usually get pushed to debut.
Big companies will put those who are ready to debut in commercials or music videos/vlogs of those who are already successful.
For an analogy: maybe like Taylor swift already well known/famous, and if they want to introduce sabrina carpenter so they make Sabrina collaborate with Taylor in music videos/songs or make her tour opener. (just an example, as sabrina already quite known being on disney but yeah)
But for Bighit (the company which BTS is part of), they were a small company which had no funds and had no other artists. So they used youtube and a korean community blog (something like tumblr), where the members' filmed vlogs showcasing their thoughts, snippets of daily life and their bond as a group.
In this, V (or Kim Taehyung) was hidden and did not show up on camera but we over the years we have gleaned that he is usually out of sight behind or off camera. V was a hidden member as the company did not want to reveal him and allow other companies to poach him in part due to his looks and unique vocals.

Couple of sites that are great for BTS content :
YT - Bangtantv & Bangtansubs for older video's ( 2013 on HYBE didn't trans)
Weverse everything BTS since this is their own platform but HYBE also created it for all Kpop groups and American artist as well, this is where you can rent video's of concerts - Bon Voyage, In the Soop
Doolset lyrics.com for English trans of their songs ( color coded or lyric video's are not always correct )
YT- Enjoy BTS more - Concerts or songs with English trans, she also for $1 has a Patreon where she has all kinds of shows and concerts that are blocked from YT and video's that you would have to purchase from the company or other official retail sites

So glad you watched this, loved your reaction. Just a little fun fact about Jin, before a concert, Jin would cut out paper hearts and hide them somewhere on him and then reveal the heart to ARMY as a gesture of love for his fans. One time the 2 hearts were on a pair of glasses he put on during the concert, another time he folded up a heart that was almost as tall as him and unfolded it for ARMY on stage. Also, the video didn't mention that Jin plays the piano and guitar.

Thank you for this, guys! It means a lot to ARMYs when new ARMYs join the fandom. To officially join the membership, you can check that out on Weverse. As for their movies, here's a list of what you can react to:
Burn the Stage (2018)
Bring the Soul (2019)
Break the Silence (2020)
Plus there are solo documentary films too:
Suga: Agust D Tour D-Day
J-Hope in the Box
RM: Right People, Wrong Place
Jungkook: I AM STIL
Jimin's Production Diary
There are many other documentaries but you can start with the first three BTS docu films I mentioned. Thanks in advance!

I haven’t seen many comments about the kpop industry itself that might give you some context about their rise to fame.
BTS is what we call the 3rd generation of kpop, so their group formation and training model is not new (but different compared to western training) - auditioning, getting casted, and undergoing a training period for sometimes several years is “typical” for most kpop groups. Some can do this and never see the light of day. They go through intense training and get evaluated by their agencies continuously to even be chosen to make it in a final group that will be chosen to debut. People get to follow along with members pre-debut activities to slowly promote their group and build a fan base for debut.
Historically, popular groups have always come from the largest 3 kpop companies - SM, JYP, and YG. But the fact that BTS’ was able to get as big as they did without support from Korean media or coming from a large company is a big feat. Getting access to music shows and talk shows in Korea is a big deal for exposure, but they essentially had to create their whole own media production company within itself to market themselves. Remember this is before easily consumable social media like TikTok, etc. Additionally, BTS’ is one of the few Kpop groups that really took part in writing/producing their music. There are artists in Korea who do this, but it was less common for an actual kpop group to do this. You do notice a heavy hip hop influence because their roots come from underground rap and they were originally going to debut as a hip hop group, but that changed along the way.
The MMAs and MAMA awards are the two largest awards shows in Korea/Asia respectively and the biggest awards have always been awarded to Big 3 companies. These award shows shit on Western music award shows LOL and they are open for fans to watch. 2019 was so insane for them because they took ALL the awards from both shows.
Ironically, HYBE (formerly BigHit) is one of the largest music production companies in the world, having bought out smaller kpop companies and then partnering with larger western music companies like Columbia records which is home to artists like Justin Bieber, etc.
We are now deep into the 4th generation of kpop and BTS are now serving mandatory military service as they are now an “older” group, so some may argue that their presence isn’t the same as it was a couple years ago. The members won’t reunite until the end of 2025. But they have pre-produced so much content and the members have their individual projects that allow us to still engage in their activities even while they’re gone. They have also exceeded the genre of kpop and now have proved to everyone that they are global music artists that probably dont fit into that box of just kpop anymore.

@52:43 they all were trainees before bts' debut. So, although they joined at different times (within months/yr of each other), the group was finalized as 7 before any music was officially released as bts. They were active online & did covers and unofficial releases before debut, so that how fans learned about some members before they debuted. When the group officially debuted to the public, that is when everyone found out about all 7 members.
Also! In Korea, the name structure is last name then first name. So Kim Namjoon's (RM) name in the west would be Namjoon Kim.

Welcome to ARMY! Just to help you out, it's just "ARMY" (not "purple ARMY" or "the ARMY"). As SUGA said back in 2017, "You’ll like BTS music if you listen without prejudice." I think that an addendum could be made to that, to say "...and if you listen to the BTS story, you'll want to fight for them alongside every ARMY."

This is just me, but I think a reactor should first focus on the group. There is plenty of time for them to move on and watch/focus on solo projects. Asking them to focos on solo projects now invites Solos into the mix, and it also takes the entire timeline off track and puts the cart before the horse (plus that longer video isn't even up-to-date anymore either anyway).

Hey guys, thank you so much for the reaction. I've been waiting so long for this video and it was totally worth it 💜 Thank you for being so sweet and appreciative of all 7 members. Of course you're all part of ARMY now. I really enjoyed the video and loved all the feedback you guys gave. I love that you took notes, it's understandable because it can be a little confusing at first. BTS is a unique group and I totally agree with what you've said, their connection with ARMY and how humble and genuine they are is an essential part of their success. I can't wait for more reactions. If you liked this type of video, there's a documentary on Youtube that's incredibly well done, it's called 'The Rise of Bangtan' and there you can see the whole career of BTS as a documentary from their hard beginnings until they reached international recognition. I'm sure you'd like it a lot.

And just one clarification, Koreans used to count their age differently, so when Jungkook mentioned that he was 15 when he joined, in the terms of international age, he was only 13. The age difference in Korea is now officially switched to international term.

Just a small side note BTS was originally supposed to be a Hip Hop group. As they continued to make music they were always pushed limits and tried different sounds and styles. They can literally do any genre of music. It still blows my mind how diverse their music is. I would recommend watching their debut song "No More Dreams".

G’day guys, great video! If you’re looking to dive into more K-pop, you’ve got to check out BLACKPINK, the world’s biggest female K-pop group. With only 4 members, they’ve already headlined Coachella twice. I’d recommend starting with:
1. Pink Venom
2. How You Like That?
3. DDU-DU DDU-DU
Hope you give them a go!

I wanted to also add to get more of an appreciation for their lyricism as well. You could react to their rap unit (RM, Jhope and Suga) song 'Ddaeng' as well as the explained video by DKDKTV. When I first heard this song and the lyrical meaning behind it, it blew my mind!

Also just for cultural awareness, in Korea (and other Asian countries), the last name is said first before the first name. So Kim Namjoon is going to be Namjoon Kim in the US. There are 3 members with the same last names (Kim). Believe me, it was confusing for me at the start, too!!
Kim Namjoon (RM)
Kim Seokjin (Jin)
Min Yoongi (Suga, Agust-D, Yoongi)
Jung Hoseok (J-hope, Hobi)
Park Jimin (Jimin)
Kim Taehyung (V, Tae)
Jeon Jungkook (Jungkook, JK)

Welcome to ARMY! Thank you for loving our boys. TONS of content out there, including concert movies behind the scenes. If you really want to get to know the boys outside of their insane performances, you should check out personality videos or behind the scenes. But just beware, it’s a pretty deep rabbit hole you’re going to jump into lol. Enjoy the ride — totally worth it a thousand percent!

Rise of Bangtan is a great fan made docuseries. It explains not only how BTS started and what they went thru but also how Kpop culture works which can provide a lot of context on why things are how they are, how BTS approached theirs different from KPop in most ways or terms used ☺️💜

I understand that concern, it's more so in the idea that since they have reacted to quite a few of BTS's title tracks as a group, it could be interesting if they reacted to at least one solo track from each member, then go back to the group's discography and then later dive deeper into the solos, you see, more so in that optic? So that it fleshes out how the invidual members come together artistically as a group (bc the solos will make them aware of their invidual colours, even if it's only a glimpse)

TYSM for the early access!!! Such a fun watch. It would be so sick if you guys check out RUN BTS (their Variety Show). Doesn’t need to be on YouTube or here cause there’s so many episodes but I guarantee you’ll have fun. They’re short. They’re funny. Perfect happy pill.

thank you for doing this reaction justice, welcome to ARMY <3 There are a few docuseries they have put out like Burn The Stage & Break The Silence - but honestly the amount of content available from their variety show Run BTS, to travel/staycation shows like Bon Voyage Season 1-4, In The Soop Season 1 & 2, & Are You Sure more recently - these only scratch the surface haha, welcome to the rabbit hole!

The reason why Tae was not known was because in K-Pop groups when they first debut, they released pictures and information about each of the members on a timeline. So that's why he was not known until the very end prior to them fully debuting

1. Burn The Stage: The Movie
-released 2018 which kicked off the tradition of the idols revealing the stories behind their musical journey as a group
2. Bring The Soul: The Movie
- released 2019 documented not only the glory of the septet and the happiness they got from their concerts but also the inevitable downsides that came with the same.
3. Break The Silence: The Movie
-released in 2020 it's about their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour that was rolled out in 2019
4. BTS: Yet To Come
-the last group film of BTS documentaries, following the announcement of their 2 year hiatus, in the light of their duty to fulfill the mandatory military service. They released their last album Proof, along with a massive free concert in Busan before they closed their first chapter.

Hey guys! Nice video !!
Here is my suggestion to reaction:
First a video with a song of each member individually, but while within in BTS
I will say the ones I love the most, but there’s a bunch (that I also love too much lol)
RM: persona
Suga: shadow
J-hope: Ego
Jin : moon
V: singularity
Jungkook: my time
Jimin: serendipity
And then, another video reacting to their solos songs, the recent ones (that’s difficult to suggest ‘cause they’re so good lol)
RM: wildflower/come back to me
Suga: daewichta / haegeum/ amygdala
J-hope: more/ neuron
Jin: astronaut/ I’ll be there
V: slow dancing/ friends/ love me again
Jungkook: seven explicit/ 3d / standing next to you
Jimin: set me free pt.2 / like crazy/ who

The beauty standards in South Korea are so insane that half od BTS were criticized for being too ugly to be in a kpop group after their debut. Even now, the haters sometimes aim at the looks of some of the members and think they're doing something. It's insane.
Note about the names: In SK, family name comes first, so Kim Namjoon would be writen as Namjoon Kim if he was born in the states. Kim being the family name and Namjoon his given name. Also, in Korea, calling someone only by their surname is not common, because a lot of people there share the same surname (there are three Kims in BTS), so even if they are talking to someone they don't know very well, they would use their given name + an honorific.
Michelle Winchester
2024-10-31 11:02:14 +0000 UTC
Koreans’ surname appears before their forename so Namjoon is actually his first name not Kim, Kim is his surname. His stage name is RM and is the most popular name most people go by. Same format goes with other members. So yeah just to remember their first names appear after their surnames in writing so all of the members first names (not accounting they also have stage names) are as follows:
Namjoon (stage name RM(
Seokjin (stage name Jin)
Yoongi (stage name Suga)
Hoseok (stage name J Hope)
Jimin (stage name also Jimin)
Taehyung (stage name V)
Jungkook (stage name is also Jungkook or JK).
Not meaning to confuse you further, but they also have other nick names army uses but just to keep it simple for now, the above is their main names they go by and the rest you will pick up over time :)

I would love for you guys to react to their older songs : No more dream, We are bulletproof pt2, Boy in luv, Danger… That’s really where you get to see their more Hiphop and darker side cuz BTS was initially supposed to be a hiphop group. They started doing softer and more pop/edm in 2015. You’ll see more how diverse their music is. Love your videos sm! 💜

Helpful hint for the guide: Not sure if you know.... Korean people counted age differently to others...
Korean Age vs International Age - difference is 1-2 years depending on if their birthday has been.... In most older videos, including this guide, they are giving Korean ages so you will need to adjust.
The members were only 13-18 years old when they joined BTS and 15-20 yo when they debuted.
In Korea when you are born you are considered 1 year old. Then on lunar newyear every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. ....
Year of birth - International age at Debut on 13June13
Jin 1992 - 20 yo
Suga 1993- 20 yo Suga started with MIDI at 11
JHope 1994 - 19 yo
RM 1994 - 18 yo RM started rapping at 11 and was well known in the underground scene at 13 and signed with BigHit at 16.
Jimin 1995 - 17 yo
V 1995 - 17 yo
JK 1997 - 15 yo he signed with big hit at 13
Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age.
The Korean Government has recently (June28 last year) brought in international age as the standard in Korea, but all older videos/ interviews/ shows, will be referencing Korean age.
💜Have a great day

I'm sure you've read it by now but Kim is a family name not a Surname 😅 Namjoon, Teahyung and Seokjin are Kim's. Then there's Jung Hoseok, Jeon Jungkook, Park Jimin and Min Yoongi. In Korean culture, the family name is before the surname.

There's actually another guide just like this, if you're interested, it's more updated (2024), its 'a long helpful guide to BTS' by purple snow (~2hrs)! Otherwise there is the docu-series made by ARMY ' The Rise of Bangtan' (21 chapters, on YouTube, ~30 min episodes). Side note too, Jungkook is also often referred to just as JK. I know it can be a little confusing with their Korean names, I certainly was when I joined. So referring to his nickname made him easier to recognise, I feel! ✨💜

I AM SO HAPPY YOU GUYS FINALLY REACTED TO THE GUIDE! Thank youuu!🥹♥️ I highly recommend watching "BTS BURN THE STAGE" but pls watch the series first then follow with the movies. I think there are 8 episodes and every episode is about a member. If you really want to get to know more about them and their capabilities, personalities, and how they're just normal human beings, then please watch this. You'll see a lot of behind the scenes of their world tour during the Wings Era, it showcases their practices, song writing, what they do on their free while on tour, how they genuinely love performing, and You'll see more of their vulnerable side too - how they're all just normal boys that gets sick too. But they overcome all challenges. please please do this one! 🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏

Long comment alert, but I wanted to answer your questions! So a ‘mixtape’ is essentially a way for members of the group to put out their own music aside from group activities. It’s different to a solo album because it doesn’t get as promoted or streamed as a solo album would but offers members a chance to make music aside from BTS. Now, however, they have decided to make solo music given that they are in the military (Jin and Jhope have returned!) and it would be hard for them to make group music. Here the music they release would be called ‘albums’ not ‘mixtapes’ as they are more official and more promoted as music produced by individuals of BTS. This would mean they are still able to release music but not as a group yet until they all return from the military. All the members have released their own albums but I wouldn’t recommend getting into them just yet until you've explored more but this is my understanding of it. You also asked about the big 3 kpop companies, they are YG entertainment (groups such as BlackPink and Baby Monster), SM entertainment (groups such as EXO and NCT) and JYP entertainment (groups such as Stray Kids and TWICE). ARMY feel free to add if I’ve missed anything! Thanks for the awesome reaction guys! ✨💜

Really love your reactions and how close you pay attention to all of the details. It would be cool to see you do a solo song for each member so you can see their personal music style.
My personal recommendations:
RM - Intro Persona, Trivia Love, Wildflower
Jin - Epiphany Live in Osaka, The Astronaut, I'll be There
Suga/Augst D - Daechwita, Haegeum, Amygdala (in this order, they're a trio)
J-Hope - Daydream, Arson, Ego
Jimin - Serendipity Live in Osaka, Set me Free pt. 2, Who
V - Singularity, Fri(end)s, Slow Dancing
Jungkook - Begin, Euphoria Live in Osaka, Standing Next to You

It will be good if you try to start watching "The Rise of Bangtan" the documentary made by an ARMY, not the song coz they have a song with that title.
The docu was edited really well, required no narrators as their vlogs and real video clips tell their story. Not only them, but a bit about the Kpop world too. They include their songs/ discography too. So like after watching one episode, you can go and check out the songs in full incorporated into that episode. That way, you can listen to their music chronologically. You'll be able to find this docu in YT 💜

I don't recommend checking solo works at this early point. They are baby ARMYs. It's better they know the music as BTS first, otherwise there won't be a basis of that "ties back as BTS" stuff. It's best that they build up their OT7 hearts first, no need to hurry them to go solo.

They have a couple documentaries to watch (some people have already mentioned them)! There is also a fanmade documentary (The Rise of Bangtan) which explains their journey and struggles a lot more with evidence. Very well made, you would think it was Netflix lol. But it is incomplete lol.
Anyways, really appreciate you guys and your reactions. Very genuine and approachable. I know Army can be wild sometimes and you all aren’t a vending machine for videos, but love what you’re doing. Congrats on being baby Army 😂 from a toddler Army lololol

BigHit was close to bankruptcy for most of their early years, so the company didn't have the money for the rigid Idol training program. So, they had to make money by writing songs, solo projects, and the most successful idea of all, VLOGs to interact with their first 50 fan members, then 100, then 1000, and on, and on. Lack of money became Creative Destruction of the IDOL industry. The other companies are finally waking up. There won't be another BTS, so find talent instead of trying to find the "Next BTS."

Now You Know!!! Now you Know why we wanted you to watch the BTS Guide. And this info only goes up to 2022. 2 more years of major stuff to discover. You have 11 years of content to watch. Not kidding. Here is a brief summary. I'll include a little bit of my journey. On February 24, 2020 I just happened to be watching the Tonight Show. Jimmy introduced "BTS." I had never heard of them. They debuted their new song "On" from their new album "7." They debuted at Grand Central. Station in New York City. It was their way to also announce their World Tour to promote their new album. There performance was stunningly exquisite. Being in Musical Theatre, I Knew what it took to pull off that perfectly in sync performance. It was a Magnificent Masterpiece. There is no copy to watch on NBC. But luckily there is a viable taped copy on YouTube that some girl saved on her DVD. Please watch it next. Not to be confused they created a very artsy version of the song with lots of symbolism on a MV. They filmed the Kinetic Manifesto version outside in L.A.. But after all that hard work, they never got to perform it Live for an audience at a concert. Why? Look at their debut date. The next day they were called into a meeting by upper mgmt. There is a video of that meeting. They sadly announced their World Tour was cancelled because of the pandemic. They were crushed and devastated to say the least. They had worked so very hard preparing. The world was shut down by covid. And they became shut down. They took it hard. All those details you'll learn later. But they did not stop working. They created those online concerts. Filmed performances for Award shows that still contined, but no one was there. They were assigned to create their own album from beginning to end. The concept. Compose the songs with lyrics. Create all the art work for the actual album cover. Set up their own PR that couldn't be held in person. They did everything by themselves. Produced it. Sang on the album. Suga voted Jimin to be the Music Produer to give him that experience. Because all the other rappers had already produced their own mixed tapes before. JK directed the MV. After they completed that, they trained for their final Live concert held in Busan. Army had no idea it was their last concert. But, they made a Big Announcement
at Festa, their yearly celebration of their debut. They announced they were taking a break. NOT breaking up. They were brain dead. Burned out. What you don't know is they worked 360 days a year. No weekends off. No holidays off. Except Christmas twice. They took vacations together, but that was really work too. They were filmed 24 x 7. And assigned activities to do. In 2018 they almost disbanded because they had been worked too hard!! Anyway, you can watch that announcement on YouTube too. We all cried. They cried. But they assured us and said they were taking a year off to all write and produce their own first official solo album. And that's what they did. It makes sense because throughout that year they all had to report to military duty at staggered times. We were secretly happy for them. No show business. No rehearsals. A real job with new real people to meet. The boys excelled in the military. They've all gotten awards and accolades from big brass. They've all been promoted. They've all become great leaders and great soldiers. What we didn't know is they had been working doubly hard. They created songs and interviews and documentaries. Filmed their solo concerts. They created enough content so we would get music and stuff dropped from them every month to show us how much they loved us. They surprised us and dropped their albums and more. They're solo albums are unbelievable. Let us pick one song from each album so you have a clue how top notch the albums are. You're right. They could all quit BTS and be successful the rest of their lives doing solo work. But they are all dedicated to starting Chapter 2 after they are all discharged by the end of June next year. Bravo. Thanks for finally watching their Guide. A question for you in my reply.

I actually never commented on a vid before but thought I could give it a go there.
If you guys want more content like this, BTS has official content/documentaries/movies. The latest one, Beyond the star, is on Disney + and is like a summary of their 10 years as a group. It’s really great.
Other ones are Burn the stage (a serie and a movie) that focuses on their 2017 world tour, bring the soul (serie and movie - 2018) and break the silence (same thing a serie and a movie more focused on 2019). They are on YouTube prime I think.
Rise of bangtan is a great fanmade serie but nothing can beat the official content for me.
And after this each member has released a lot of individual content since they took a break to go to the army. J-Hope has a documentary, Suga and RM have one too.
You have a lot to catch up on ! :)

YAY, SINCE WE ALREADY HAVE A PATREON, I’d love to see you guys watch their series which will make you love them even more beyond their music.
BON BOYAGE: A fun series where they travel outside Korea with limited budget and a little English trying to figure out how to go about it. Along the way they’d get lost, they’d meet and befriend random people in the streets. It’s funny, chaotic and heartwarming.
IN THE SOOP: A series during covid where the world stops and their shows and concerts got cancelled, they took a rest and spent a relaxing week in one house, cooking, gaming, building blocks, just like having a full staycation with your lads. Very healing and therapeutic.
RUN BTS: 150+ Episodes of BTS playing variety of games and trying different new things.

You asked if there is a movie with their story- they have some official docu-series, but the one that actually shows their story from the start until around 2018 when they were already famous is a fan made series-"The Rise of Bangtan". It is very well made, the person that made it is a proffesional editor, they used official content, interviews, parts of live performances, clips behind the scenes, and they really make you understand where they came from and how they got to be so famous. I really recommend it.
You can find it on Youtube, it has 21 episodes and some extra clips, but it is very entertaining. This is the channel, in case you are interested:

Korea already changed the rule officialy, but people still use the korean age and will most likely keep doing it outside official stuff, because it's what they are used to.
Also, besides the moment when Jungkook said he was 15 when he joined, the rest of the guide only listed the date of birth , so the guys calculated the ages in the usual international way.

Hii~ Great reaction, welcome to the ARMY 💜
Here are some 'documentaries':
• BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star
-> available on Disney +, series
• BTS: Burn the Stage
-> Available on YouTube Premium, series
• Fanmade: This is BTS ARMY by XCeleste
-> On YouTube, one video (about ARMY)
+ I can genuinely and generally recommend SugArmyy's videos. They edit them very well and have covered a lot of fun stuff, eg "BTS being ARMY's biggest fans" :] You can just pick one that peakes your interest ^^
Just a side info in case you didn't know, BTS has been serving in the military for about 1-2 years but 2 members have already come back (Jin and J-Hope), all of them will have returned in June 2025, so perfect timing ^^

Sorry for commenting in bits and pieces because I'm posting as I watch 😅
Just last basic info for you guys, BTS means BangTan Seonyondan (means bulletproof boy scouts). And ARMY means Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth.
BTS has a lot of content/ official documentary out there, like Burn The Stage (the first one), Beyond The Stars is the newest at the moment. However, I don't think you're ready for them as they include many songs that you haven't heard yet. I suggest you get to their songs first, watch MV, live performances and dance practices. That would be great for now 😊 thanks for this video guys! 💜

And Never produced before. Never sang as a soloist before. Never made a mixed tape before. Never made a solo album before. He designed it from start to finish
All the album art design. PR work. He designed an introductory part for his first album. Costume design . Everthing. Never commanded the stage a solo artist at his own concert. Headlining at Lollapalooza in Chicago. He is self made. Created MV's with other talent. It goes on and on! More and More! Documentary. His own dance history TV series. 2 solo albums!.....

In Korea, idols are trained extremely before they debut. They study singing, dancing along with other trainees then they select who are good to qualify for a group. As for BTS, they trained from between 2009-10 before they debuted at 2013. BTS was supposed to be a hiphop group then eventually included singers and became an idol group when they debuted.
J-Lee

Lol...just a small thing...in Korea, last name is first, then first name. So Kim Namjoon would be Kim (surname) Namjoon (given name). I think V was hidden because of his talent. That deep, silky baritone voice is kind of unusual in Kpop, I think they didn't want another company to poach him. As a group BTS has been together in total about 13-14 years, and didn't really have anyone around them so they became family. The saying is "BTS doesn't find you, you find BTS when you need them the most" and that holds true for so many ARMY. Since this ends in May 2022, it doesn't talk about Chapter 2, which has been their solo journey. They've broken many records as solo artists in their own right, even some of their group records!

The members are currently in the south korean army, Jin & Jhope just finished their 18 month service and the other 5 are still serving. It's mandatory for males between the ages of 18 and 30 to join the military. BTS was given special permission to enter a little later but it was a huge topic of discussion between the fans (army) and the south Korean government but at the end, BTS decided to join since it's their countries rules.

Their ages are not listed correctly. In Korea they are 1 year old when they are born. International law requires your real age to be listed on your passport. Their passports list their real age. The passports don't go by any cultural aging rules. So J.K. auditioned when he was 12. Signed to train when he was 13. And debuted at the very young age of 14. The country will soon change to the International age as listed on their passports.

13:50 - don't know if you realise it later, but koreans write their name differently: Kim Namjoon- Namjoon is his first name, Kim is his last name
Georgiana S
2024-10-30 15:47:41 +0000 UTC
Kim is not his name. All Koreans have their last name listed first. His real name is Namjoon. His stage name he goes by is RM. His nickname is Joonie. All my comments are information for you. We know there is no way you would know lots of stuff we'll be telling you. BTS has spoken 3 times at the UN. The first time just Namjoon spoke to the United Nation's General Assembly Hall. It seats 2,000. Here is a special honor. BTS is the only group to have been given special permission to film a MV in the Assembly Hall and on the grounds! "Permission to Dance." Find his speech. He spoke to the assembly. It's one of the best speeches I've ever heard! RM is a genius. That show, "Problematic Men", you saw him on calculating the math, it was his first appearance. He was the youngest of all the other "brains" on the show. I won't tell you what happens because you might want to watch it on your own someday. RM is in the Top 1% of the smartest men in Korea. There is evidence to prove that. They take apptitude tests. Oops. I see others have explained the Korean name thing.

NamJoon and JHope are both born in 1994 they are 30 with Jhope being a few months older. JJin was born in 1992 he's 32, Suga was born in 1993 he's 31, Jimin and TaeHyung (V) were born in 1995 both 29 and Jung Kook (pronounced Jung Goog) was born in 1987 he's 28. So in age order it would go Jin, Suga, Hobi, RM, Jimin, V, JungKook. We call JungKook our Golden Maknae. Maknae is the Korean word for Baby

Here is the Big Trick. You may know their names now. But identifying them in videos will be tricky. They change their hair color and hair style and haircut all the time. They even change their eye color with lenses. I promise. We won't judge you. Because it took us all some time to identify them. You will
finally get to identify them by their smile, jaw line, body shape, and height. Then also by their speaking voice and singing voice. And maybe by their individual dance style. Jimin starts and ends most songs in the classic ballet foot positions. But you wouldn't know that if you haven't taken ballet. And of course they all dress differently for dance practice. They may have on a mask or hoodie or hat too. Good Luck. Yea. Finally! And I paid the Big Bucks to watch your reaction because I do like your enthusiasm and appreciation for our boys. I'm writing this before I watch. I hope you moved our viewing screen up and enlarged the font so we can read the subtitles. They are blocked or cut in half at the bottom of your screen. I'll be sure to let you know. It's vital that we can read the subtitles. We don't know Korean yet!
