Day 1 Post Surgery Update

It’s now been 24h since we returned home. Lewis is still not in any pain - - he’s on a regular dose of Oxy which is really great at stopping the pain!… but also makes him really foggy in the head.
There’s a huge post surgery care routine that has to happen, including
- 3 x regular pain meds (Oxy, Panadol & nurofen)
- an antibiotic twice a day
- medicated mouthwash after every meal
- ice packs to change every 60 minutes
- a lip balm
that last one might not seem like a huge deal, but the surgeons stretch the lips as far as possible & drill into the skull through the gum line… so his lips are dry, cracked, bruised & wonky 🫠
Lew’s angel of a Mum is staying with us, sleeping on a floor mattress next to Lew & swapping shifts with me to care for him. I wouldn’t be able to do it without her (+ care for the kid + the pets). She was up all night helping him.
Hopefully he’ll get a better night’s sleep tonight, tomorrow I plan to update you on what exactly Lewis is eating seeing as his whole mouth has been detached & rearranged… can’t exactly chew!
I’ll post pics + responses to the insta questions on the Patreon stories, the app is being glitchy & isn’t letting me post to feeds, either that or I’m a noob (it’s probably the last one)

Lewis' experience might vary but I recently had surgery and after I ran out of the good stuff, Nummit cream helped the dull ache under my skin when Panadol didn't. As time goes on maybe check out if there is a "compounding chemist" in your area who can make him some baby teething gel with Lignocaine and Chlorhexidine. It got me through a few pinches with my wisdom teeth until I could get them out. Frozen grapes were also nicer to eat than sucking on ice cubes. Hope the next update is good progress 😊
