In the spirit of spooky season, how about I talk about a toy that absolutely terrifies me. I have finally bought something that I'm going to really need to work up to.
Heads up, it might be my accent, it might be that I'm just human, but I pronounce Abalone wrong this entire review and I'm not going to fix it. But to be clear, the pour on this boy looks just like the inside of a seashell.
So, let's talk about Mako from A Crow's Nest
Visually: I have been coveting this toy for quite a long time. I really like the design; its a very unique tentacle sculpt. I am blown away by the pour as it is very similar to the shells I have collected over the years. It's just very fucking cool. I'm so happy to have one in my hot little hands. He's also massive so visually, he's a bit overwhelming to consider. He has a tiny bit of a lean to the right, which it seems to be consistent on this model based on all the pics on the Etsy page.
Usability: He's to big. He doesn't fit. He's a struggle to play with. All of that is my own fault though hahah. These things happen sometimes? I spend a lot of time struggling with him, just to get a good position for some fun. I find, he is very chonky. He's thick all over and the bulbus design, while very cool to look at is a bit of a pain to play with, WHICH I blame on the size, and again, that is my fault. I'm eyeing the small to see if that works better for me, which I think says something, when you look at my past conquests?
Overall: I painfully wish I could love him more than I do. He looks amazing; I am so so so impressed by the design and the pour. I'm so sad he's such a struggle to play with. I suspect I will need to try again and see how it goes after a few more rounds.
Frankly, it's amazing this is the first time I have bought something I couldn't ride in a satisfying way. You saw it here first, folks.
