In today's episode we're going to be talking to her about what's happened and digging into the increasingly strained relationship between Kotaku's editorial team and the company which owns the site itself, G/O Media.
"I can't really go into specifics about the reason because it does involve other staffers and their personal information, so I just want to be sensitive to that. But I will say it was a deeply G/O Media reason. It's all been pretty disappointing.
I feel like, in some ways, maybe it was for the best. I was opening my notes app and kind of scrolling through it and came across a resignation letter that I wrote literally a year ago."

This is extremely disappointing to hear, I've been a Kotaku reader for almost 15 years now, lasted through the introduction of Kinja, the SOPA PIPA protests (/lack thereof), and the times we shall not name (and that was just the first 5 years). I can't imagine how frustrating it must have been to run the site in its current state under Great Hill Partners. The site has a voice, and that voice is its writers, I hope that one day it can be free of the sea witch's curse known as "private equity", even if it has to adopt a new home the way Defector ended up doing.
