People Make Games now has a t-shirt!

Hey everyone,

You might have heard us briefly mention this in our latest video, but People Make Games now has its own merch store.

I know. We're like one of those proper YouTube channels now. Look at this:

Because this is our first attempt at doing something with merch, we're going to have a limited run of both the t-shirts and the pin badge based on the number of pre-orders we receive. Just a heads up: that pre-order window closes on Thursday, so it might be worth taking a look before then if anything catches your eye.

Everything you see here was designed by Anni who wants to thank all of you who voted for your favourite designs back in February. You were a huge, huge help.

Why DFTBA?

And finally, I wanted to quickly talk about why we went with DFTBA as the place to sell our stuff.

DFTBA is owned by Hank and John Green, who you might know on YouTube as the Vlogbrothers. They do lots of other stuff too, like run VidCon, produce educational videos for channels like SciShow and CrashCourse, and write wildly successful Young Adult fiction that gets turned into actual movies.

We did not pick DFTBA because they need our support. I think the Green brothers are doing pretty well without us.

In fact, it's because of their financial success outside of DFTBA that we thought they were the people to work with. Sort of.

As Hank explains in this video, their goals for the company have changed since it was first founded. Basically, they don't need it to make money for them and so, it doesn't. The majority of the profit that DFTBA makes (from the cut they receive with each piece of merch sold) goes instead to the charity, Partners in Health.

We thought that was pretty damn cool. And they also happen to make great shirts.

Comments

Hi guys. I’m kind-of ‘window shopping’ right now. I’m trying to get my own own Patreon profile set up too, for games development in GM Studio 2, as well as my own games Art stuff. So I’m looking at pages like yours for inspiration on Rewards & wording. As a start-up developer, I wanted to ask if you guys write pieces for indies, and whether you do Shoutouts for other Patreon creators and their games?

I love the T-Shirt design! I've ordered one along with a pin :)
