Important update for this tier

Hello, you may have noticed that in the last two PMG episodes we haven’t included a custom animation. This was for a few different reasons so I’d like to explain the thought process and the solution we are proposing.

In our Fortnite video we ended up using quite a different visual style to convey the story. There was no ‘traditional’ animation and instead, we used props and a stop motion/collage effect. With each video, we try to create a style that best suits the topic and this can make planning animated sections a little tricky. Similarly with the Molyneux episode, which is part of a mini-series called ‘The Games I made’, this didn’t require any animation because of the filming setup we had in place.

What Chris and I are realising is that making room for a custom section of animation in every episode isn’t always good for the videos themselves. Sometimes the topic might not feel appropriate to have it all. If we’re covering something like how the appropriation of dance moves in Fortnite unfairly targets black artists, it’s difficult to offer much scope for fun, personal animation for you.

So far, all of the Patrons I’ve worked with have all been amazing and I am really happy with the custom animations we’ve been able to create. But unfortunately, it’s not felt like a reliable reward we can offer. Because of this, we’ve sadly decided to stop offering animations from this point onwards (the art prints will stay exactly the same).

To make up for this, we’d like to send everyone who’s currently in this tier (prior to May 1st) a gift to show how much we’ve appreciated your support.

You might remember the T-shirt design post that went up a few weeks ago, where we asked you to vote on a design. We’d like to send you a limited edition version of the shirt, free of charge. As well as the printed design it will have a custom message included too. To do this we’d just need to know your preferred shirt size and we’d be good to go! We should already have your address if you’ve been receiving the art prints.

(Please send your size info to anni@peoplemakegames.com)

We’re sorry to be losing the custom animations, but we hope you understand the reasoning and that you’ll enjoy a cool T-shirt arriving in the post very soon.

Many thanks,

Anni
