Her album My 21sr Century Blues is a recommendation. I also have the live album of this concert at Royal Albert Hall.

2024-11-22 23:26:20 +0000 UTCRaye is so good, luckily she's starting to get the mainstream recognition she deserves with her latest album, My 21st Century Blues. She's been around a while but her record label royally f*cked her over and kept her from flourishing: they didn't back her and would not release her debut album; they frequently used her as a feature on other artists tracks; and there are allegations of misconduct and abuse from Raye (the song Ice Cream Man is an example). This latest album, My 21st Century Blues, is an independent and self-funded project that Raye accomplished apart from the label - the project is gritty and real, sad and empowering. It's very much worth a listen, highly recommend.

She's had a heartbreaking story coming through the music industry to this point (the sadly common story of a teenage girl being exploited/taken advantage of). So happy you guys have discovered her now though.
