Path of Dragons 14 - Chapter 85 - Terrifying Control

Comments

We gain alot from this chapter for the future, that galaxy was like kirlissas blood rock bay but way extreme, she brings up how she has never ever had to do it again people know. So this is the biggest extreme line, I really, really hope Elijah never has to go beyond this.

Its especially stupid to me because like. Being born a dragonling Very Explicitly does not mean you will become a dragon. Elijahs kids would need to be granted a core but THAT IS TRUE FOR BIOLOGICAL DRAGONS ALSO

Gosh dang. I freakin' love Krisslia ❤️ Such an amazing balance of power, support, mystery, love, and character.

I like the dichotomy , literal god levels of strength and the abiltiy to harm. I mean she quietly just told every other transcendant , potentially the emperor himself to STFU and dont touch her son, has destroyed entire galaxies. Then on the other hand, shes sitting here counseling Elijah saying she doesnt give a shit about cores and just cares about her family and always has his back.

Haha you'd think if dragon society cared so much about the ability to have dragon children they'd help their children become dragons.

1: I will say, the author probably should have added a disclaimer to the last chapter. That being said, you are free to not read the story as much as the author is to write it as they see fit. 2: The description of anarchy could have fit. You are using the logic of a presystem Earth, while accurate in many ways, do not apply to a post-system scenario. Which has many power dynamics to it. AND she did mention bribes, which implies she may have had agents on the planet. What I see happening on the planet, those with power consume resources at a rapid pace with no method of supporting that consumption. That bred scarcity and the eventual downfall of those in charge. Eventually, society started consuming itself. To the point that they devolved into nothing more than the equivilant to neanderthawls.

If I seem a little irritated in the rest of this comment, I'm still kinda annoyed at the torture porn/fridging and considering dropping the story. That being said, I am also trying to offer these as sincere critique from a historical perspective as someone who studied sociology and wants the story to end well. Quick correction to a couple things because this grates on me. They didn't devolve to anarchy, and you can't usually do that sort of thing with economics alone. Usually you also have to promote bad elements from the inside. Disasters of any sort tend to make societies band together unless there is an outside or obfuscated force simultaneously sowing discord *actively.* At least in the history of human societies. Isolating a community and openly harming them only makes them stronger, like what happened to London when it was being bombed in WWII or what happens in basically every recorded natural disaster or fire in human history. Also the usage of the word anarchy is just wrong. Anarchy isn't a chaotic society with a lack of *rules.* Anarchy is a lack of *rulers.* People still self-organize into groups voluntarily and contribute to the betterment of their neighbors in anarchic societies, like native tribes usually do. Even if there is a council/group of respected elders/"chief" (who might oversee something like hunting or military organization, but not other vital aspects of survival so they don't have absolute rule over anything day to day). Also the number of anarchist communes/regions in Asia that survive and do quite well for themselves that exist in the world.

Kirlissia is both totally a mom and totally alien. Casually fucks over an entire solar system and forgot why she did it. Constantly weighing the good of the empire with her personal desires.

I mean... for Elijah that was basically cultivating on Tuesday.

Kirlissa for Mom of the year! Can't say century since idk if that's changed since earths integration, so we can't dethrone Elijah's birth mom by accident.

It's totally in character for Elijah to be a little bit, disappointed in the fact that his opponent that he spiritually mangled is so broken

Kirlissa is the BEST I think I finally understand why she likes Elijah so much. He reminds her of herself. Her hoard is her people, just as his hoard is his grove. They’ll both go to any length to protect it, or should they fail, avenge it. I like that Elijah acknowledges her as his mother, too. Not his first. Not the one who raised him into the man he is. But a parent is defined by showing up and being present for their children, and Kirlissa absolutely does that, and it is very nice to see Elijah accepting it.

I hope Cyran receives a similar fate for what he di to Sara
