ATTENDING BDSM EVENTS IN YOUR CITY

Things are slowly opening back up and people are going back to being their kinky selves (social distancing and masks included of course). If you’re interested in attending your first BDSM event in your city, here are done tips about how to go about it.

1. Research events in your area

This can easily be done on fetlife. On your homepage, select the “Events” tab and search by your city or zip code for any events that are happening near you.

Be sure to read through the description of the event THOROUGHLY. Some may have fees to enter the event or certain rules on what to wear, when to attend, etc. You can also always reach out to the organizer of the event for more info. You can even see who else RSVP’d to go and try reaching out to them to ask if they’ve been to the event before and how it was.

2. Ask yourself how you want to attend.

Are you going a Dom/me, sub, or switch? Are you going to just observe or to get in on the action? Maybe you’re just going to network? Always attend events with a purpose. BDSM events are great places to learn different kinks and fetishes as sone organizers will provide educational lessons throughout the night. (For instance, I attended a Goddess Worship event last night and learned how to do sounding.)

3. Take a friend or partner with you if you’re not comfortable

A lot of events allow masks to be worn to conceal identity and you don’t necessarily have to give your real name.

5. Observe before jumping in

Take a walk around the space. Ask the organizer if they can show you around or go over the rules with you. It’s always best to survey the scene to get a good feel for it.

Most of the events are for lifestyle people that want D/s connections. This isn’t to say you can’t find a sub that’s going to spoil, but it shouldn’t be expected. Use these events for practice.
