The End of an Era

First of all, I just wanted to thank everyone here for all your support. So far, writing Path of Dragons has been the most rewarding experience of my professional life as a writer. Seeing this community grow (especially on Discord, but also via some of your vigorous discussions in the comments) has been amazing to witness. So, thank you all for making this such a wonderful experience.

Here's to hoping we can keep it going until we see the end of Elijah's story.

Part of what determines if I can keep that up is the upcoming Amazon release. As many of you know, this story was picked up by my publisher pretty early on. What a lot of you don't know is why it's taken so long for Path of Dragons to make the leap onto Amazon. It's been almost a year and a half since I signed the contract, and let me tell you - that is not a normal delay.

So, what happened?

Well, my other work happened. My publisher also handles the production of my other stories, Death: Genesis and Mistrunner. And annoyingly, they didn't want Path of Dragons to step on those release dates. I might have preferred otherwise, but they insisted on finishing Mistrunner's run before publishing the first book of Path of Dragons. I went along with it, even though I found it a bit frustration.

From that frustration came a new marketing strategy that centered on one thing - lots of chapters. There were other factors (like my ill-fated Tiktok channel and my oft-ignored Facebook account), but none of it worked without the double-chapter months. And it worked. Path of Dragons shot to the top on Royal Road, and it's stayed there for more than six months.

However, the time has come to move to the next phase of the story's release, and that means Amazon. Specifically, Kindle Unlimited and Audible. The first book will release on May 6, 2025 on both, hopefully to immediate success. I have high hopes for this story's performance, and I hope you'll all get behind it when the time comes.

All of that being said, part of the deal when it comes to inclusion in Amazon's Kindle Unlimited catalogue is tied to exclusivity. If it's in that library, it can't be available anywhere else. Functionally, that means that I had to remove the chapters for book one from Royal Road today. I'll keep those chapters up here for another week or so (at least I will unless my publisher complains), so if you want to do a re-read over the next month, you might want to get to it soon.

Otherwise, you can reexperience the first book when it release on Kindle, Audible, and Paperback on May 6, 2025. I'll make a separate post when the pre-order is fully live (it's only Audible right now), but in the meantime, here's the audible link:

In the meantime, you'll also notice that the double chapter month (that was really more like 7 weeks) has come to an end. From here on out, we'll be going back to the normal schedule of a chapter a day.

Again, I want to thank you all for your support and enthusiasm. Reading all of your comments makes my day.
