There were a couple of times that seemed more like awkward moments than him trying to dominate. I think this was maybe the best example I have seen in my lifetime (I am old) of two men offering and holding space for a woman and allowing her to express herself on her terms. Should it be that rare? - “no”, does Taylor deserve this and more? - “yes” But this was an important step. May not be your cup of tea or absolutely perfect , but Kelce brothers are (and have been since before Taylor entered) the best example of traditionally “manly” men exemplifying non-toxic masculinity around. Those two consistently center women when they have a chance and it seems really natural. Their mom was the breadwinner and they acknowledge it out loud. Even more rare, they are also able to honor their father in an authentic way (even more rare given their parents are not a romantic couple anymore and haven’t been). Maybe not for you, but representation of this type in this space is vitally important for many other audiences. Circling back to Taylor, it’s cool that she was willing to take her seat and advance the narrative. For certain audiences, they would never even glimpse this sort of dynamic (or anything close) so good on all of them for doing the work. Are we hyper focused on Taylor? Yes and nothing at all wrong with it and we got such a gift, but they all also did such a favor for the world with this (really don’t think that’s hyperbolic). Cheers to all!

Also love how TTPD to Showgirl is almost exactly mirroring the Red to 1989 process: we know that Red and TTPD are spiritual sisters, and they're very messy, chaotic, sprawling queens - and while we love them for it, this is what the critics didn't like so much. So after Red didn't win Album of the Year at the Grammys, Taylor made a tight, bulletproof pop album - and we're seeing the same happen here with TTPD (which also didn't get the Grammy) to Showgirl. And considering 1989 went on to win Album of the Year...maybe we're looking at a 5th win? Obviously we need to hear the album and see if it really is as good as she's saying it is, but still 👀👀

The part where they talked about online chat over their relationship was so revealing. Again, finally a man whose day isn't ruined by a story about him and her. Fck Matty and Joe for both being so weak. Also, I have a theory that you guys are weirded out by her PDA with Travis because you started liking her when you were so young and she was so young that it's tricky for you to see her as a fully sexual grown adult who is doing grown adult things. Like when a child star transitions into an adult star, it can be really hard to make that transition successfully in the eyes of the audience.

She’s leaning into the 90s/00s aesthetic which is so interesting because when you hear ‘showgirl’- I would think instinct wants to go to 1920s flapper era/ICDIWABH aesthetic. But this feels more like the 1995 Showgirls and actually if you look at the promo photos from the movie and do a side-by-side comparison the vibe is there. I know that I am seeing this glitter font somewhere in my head from somewhere else. It’s unlocking a memory for me that I can’t quite connect yet but if you compare it to the font used for the movie Fight Club, it’s almost identical to that. Now I am not one to go into these weird conspiracy, rapid holes, but if you were even to make connections to what in the world, a showgirl could have in common with the movie fight club, there’s actually some commentary to be had as far as it’s deeper themes of duality of oneself. But this is me just me meth mathing hard. I’m actually obsessed with us album cover. It’s giving Fiona Apple, it’s giving Blank Space Taylor if she was an album cover— I am an all in delusional girly, and I don’t care who knows it. She had me at Tim McGraw, and I’ve earned the right to make such bold statements. 🫶
