Update to Yesterday's Topic Re: Possible Changes to My Posting Schedule.

Good morning, everyone!

First of all, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for all the supportive comments on my post from yesterday. I read every single one, and I thought they were all really reasonable and far kinder than I'd hoped. I totally understand, too, why many people would feel the need to cancel or pause their membership if I'm not currently posting a story they're interested in. It makes perfect sense!

That said, I did a lot of thinking, trying to put myself in everyone's shoes, and here's what I've decided:

  1. I'm going to keep posting Andy, Victor, and Neon Dust until these current books are done.

  2. I might take a day off Victor or Neon Dust here and there to crank out a couple of extra Andy in the Apocalypse chapters. I'd only do this if I were worried about production schedules, and right now, I'm not too worried.

  3. When Victor wraps, I'm going to cut down my posting schedule to five or six days a week.

  4. I'm going to revamp my support tier structures. I haven't fully thought this through, but I think it'll be something like this:

    • Some kind of "Omnibus" tier (thanks, Brigid) that gives access to all my stories.

    • Individual tiers for each story, priced below the Omnibus. The Omnibus will be positioned as a “value” option for anyone reading more than one story.

I'm not sure when I'll start implementing the new tiers, but the TL;DR is that nothing will change significantly until I finish VoT 12 and ND 3.

Thank you for your support, and I apologize for the additional spam these last couple of days.

Higher frequency of Andy chapters will make me happier.

I think most readers will gladly exchange a few chapters a month of their favorite story for more sustainable mental health of the author. So scaling back the overall chapters per week is definitely the right call, no matter how exactly any other changes might look. Just from a practical standpoint, I have had too many stories I was invested in go on indefinite hiatus because the author burned out; I'd rather have a slower publication pace than not be able to finish a story. Even people who might have no first-hand experience with the kind of mental stress essentially being self-employed can generate, with such a short feedback-loop on top, should stand behind that. A lot of authors also employ periodic "admin" times where they skip posts or post less frequently for a few days or a week. As long as they are clearly communicated a little in advance and people know to expect them, they seem to work out for many authors I follow (or used to follow) to take a breather and switch focus from writing to other important matters. Anyway, since I am here for both ND and Andy, the proposed support tier changes seem like a solid idea to me. And with the outlined changes in general, I am hopeful you'll find a more sustainable pace for yourself and many more chapters and stories for us :)
