Added 2018-06-27 15:09:44 +0000 UTCAfter next month I will be taking a little break from 5C as I try to figure out a better way to use Patreon that is not so intrusive. Here are a few things I am thinking about when I start the 5th Arc in September or October! :
BW vs Colour:
many of you have stated before that you have no problem with many BW pages and then the occasional scenes in colour, or even just the beginning of a scene in colour.
Colour takes me a very long time, while BW pages can be done almost 2 in a day. You have no idea how much time I have spent tweaking and fixing so many things that could have been used for new pages.
I personally find myself content with the sepia toned pages as I can rely more on the marker for texture and it's easy.
1 Tier System:
I want everyone to read the same 5C, the whole colour Tier was just a way to try and garner your support since the colouring took such a long time to get just right.
But at the same time everyone has put in so much , so I want everyone to enjoy it. With more time freed by it being in BW mostly, I can do commissions and similar things which will help ofset the cost.
I'm not rich, guys. There's a lot of budgetting going into this to make it happen!
Printed Version:
So many ask for this but right now it is not a possibility. It's not impossible either, but something that I will consider once I get all the arcs done.
Story Direction:
I have so many ways this thing can play out, maybe one day in the future I will show you all my alternate endings and scenes. Picking the "right" course is a continuous battle.
Side Stories:
I have many stories planned for IZan when he takes over that little town, and how Jess and GG met, and Grad Uncle when he was young and so on. It's just a very daunting task as it all has to be drawn. I was considering having just written parts at times to make conversation parts easier, almost like an RPG.
I want to finish this story, and I don't like how much time it's taking and how complex it's become graphically. It should be more easy and less heavy and overdone, even more graphically styled. I want to get up to 15 pages a month if I can.
Please help me make it better! You will have more page tomorrow!

Maybe do the first page or two of the month in color or maybe even use coloring for important or special pages like showing a really cool car or something like that where color would increase the impact or show its importance.

However, I would be just as content with the occasional color page (ones which you feel would add to the imagery of the story or set a scene). I also would be down for a printed version, and as suggested by the other two comments your best course for that might be to use Kickstarter. Lastly, I like the idea of additional 5c content, but would suggest you test the waters before you dive headfirst; I wouldn’t want you to create more stress for yourself by stretching out in too many directions.

Like Demian said, I’ve seen some comics/manga where the first few pages are color or it could be a cool effect if you have a big moment take up a whole two page spread in color - you could also use the illustration later to sell as a wallpaper on gumroad?? I imagine once you get all the arcs done, transitioning to a kickstarter might be a great option as far as printing. It may even give you an opportunity to revisit it and fully color everything if you wanted to. All in all, I think it’s important you don’t push yourself too hard and make sure you still have means to make more money if you need it. 👍🏼

2018-06-27 21:50:55 +0000 UTCBW vs Colour: Personally I'm a big fan of the color pages and I feel like there is a good chance you will go back to the BW pages and color them later so having the higher tier might make sense if you think you might do it anyways. That said, I would still be on board for mostly black and white to make them quicker, but like you mentioned maybe doing the first few pages of a chapter or special scenes in color like a lot of Manga do. 1 Tier System: I think the current tier system is pretty solid based on my opinion above. That said if you want to simplify it I get that too. Printed Version: Put me in the camp of people who would looooove a printed version. I don't know what else is involved in getting the book printed, but financially, an idea could be to do a indiegogo/kickstarter specifically for the printed version so you don't have to front the costs and we could all just preorder it. Stories: Do what you gotta do =) Maybe you could use side stories as a break from the main story IF you need it. Could be a fun detour. Whichever way you go, you'll still have my support!
