Clarification on Consumed

Before I continue, I would like to clarify that everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, Consumed is a dark romance—and a much darker one than my previous books. The content warnings at the beginning explicitly state how intense this story will get, particularly on a psychological level. Monroe is manipulative. I’ve made that clear from the start. She’s a therapist (Liberty’s therapist) which means she knows exactly what to say and how to comfort her. Their dynamic is inherently imbalanced.
Monroe is one of my most complex characters, and while there will be moments that feel soft or affectionate, that does not mean their relationship is meant to be healthy or romanticized. This was never intended to be a conventional love story. It is meant to be toxic, obsessive, and unhealthy. Again, the warnings are there for a reason, especially for instances like this. If this kind of dynamic makes you uncomfortable, that’s completely valid, but I strongly suggest not reading.

i think the main issue is that they’re reading this book through a romantic lens, when your warnings made it clear from the start that it’s not that type of story. so that’s really on them. honestly this is my first time reading something like this, but i actually find it refreshing. it’s rare to see an author portray manipulation for what it truly is instead of trying to romanticize it.
