@Joseph Thanks for posting the youtube clip for "Emotions." That was cool watching her use the whistle register in a live performance. However, there's no imagery in the background for VI3SON to comment and analyze. Perhaps the "Honey" music video should be considered (https://youtu.be/w3KOowB4k_k). Mariah Carey was interviewed by 60 Minutes (Australia) during this era in her life. It's a great interview (https://youtu.be/hJnUYGHAQNI) and would provide VI3SON context for perhaps a better reaction?
