As with most things, making hair has been on my to-do list for a really long time. I only decided to star a couple of days ago. At first I thought that since most hair is created from planes in Blender or 3DS Max (which i still have no clue how to use) I thought I would give it a try. So I started with planes and learning how to curve and manipulate them and pound that blender will actually hide parts of the meshes that don't have textures on them, making hair look more realistic.
However sorting the UVs are a pain, I have to unwrap the plane first but from there I can just copy and paste. I figured that was the old fashioned way being that it would take longer just doing one strand at a time.
Next I found a Blender addon called Hair tool which simplifies the process of making hair in blender. Thats what I used to make what you saw in the picture. Instead of doing one plane at a time. I cut up a UV sphere and use it as a guide for the tool to auto make strands. This is also where I learned to soft manipulate which is amazing and I'm mad that I never knew about it before.
Anyway, now that I have the basics of this tool down I can make the mesh and it simplifies the process of making the UVs too!
Unfortunately, it looks like cut up construction paper in TS4 ┐( ˘ 、 ˘ )┌
I figured its something with either the UV maps or maybe the textures but the meshing part is solid. I may not be on the level of amazing hair making yet but at least the meshes can be seen in game and thats always a start! ( ̄ω ̄;)
Anyway, thats what I've been doing for the past 3 days. That and making next week's animations and my first monthly gift for my patrons for the end of this month!
I'm bringing more to the table (^◔ᴥ◔^)
