Amazing reaction. I love Cabin in the Woods as it brings together as these tropes in a fun yet still typical horrorlike way that doesn't feel cheap or forced. There are also references to horror games like left 4 dead (the tank and boomer) So Kat, did you check the basement of your cabin, yet?

Just wish you hadn't gotten quite so stuck on the "they're making a horror movie!" idea so early on, since I think that led you to dismiss or overlook some of the hints about what was actually going on. But, hey, you got there in the end! :) One other comment: I don't believe this movie is specifically referencing lots of earlier films, so I don't recommend spending a lot of time trying to figure out the "sources" for all of the evils being represented. Sure, some have appeared in movies, but I think the idea is more that they're mythical, magical representations of evil that have survived since ancient times.
