The Blob (1988) Full Length Reaction

After a very big vote among the patrons, the 1988 version came out on top! Thank you all for voting!! I'd be lost in the haunted woods without you!

Fun fact. Tony Gardner who did that amazing half corpse in Return of the Living Dead was the head of Special Effects on The Blob. He turned into one of the most sought after Special Effects guys globally:-)

Ah yes. Another great creature feature. The 80's produced some very memorable horror movies. She also needs to look into Fright Night.

Your little shoutout to Del Close was really cool. He was indeed the godfather of improv:-) The actor playing Brian Flagg is Kevin Dillon whom you have definitely also seen elsewhere. Shawnee Smith who plays Meg is most famous for her role as Amanda in the Saw franchise of movies.

This version is soooo good! I've only ever seen the 1950s version. That scared the poop out of me when I was a kid. It was the idea that something that moved so slow could be so deadly. This Blob was way different, but equally terrifying! And what a great cast! Kevin Dillon from Entourage!!! That's so funny. It's awesome to see Shawnee Smith from the Saw series as Meg. She was a horror movie queen from the 80s!!! Who knew??? And of course, Art LaFleur, may he rest in peace, was amazing. It's crazy I've never seen this before now. Great reaction Kat!!! Loved every minute of it.

Hilarious how Kat's freeze framed face at the end of the video + the music playing over it could've made a spot on parody of 80's movie endings

... for more 80s goop try "The Stuff"!

That was good; I always love your reactions and your witty one-liners. The movie Slither (2006) is good. And Silver Bullet is a 1985 American horror thriller based on the 1983 Stephen King novella Cycle of the Werewolf, another fun one.

Eddie Perkins

I definitely let those ends credits play out fully. \m/ \m/

I am SO excited for this one!!!

Oh, and to answer your question at one point - nope, no CGI. All of the blob effects were done practically. There is some mediocre-to-downright-crappy compositing, but the blob effects themselves were created practically and then composited with live action.

Nice Kat! You just completed the trifecta of 80's remakes with crazy special effects. As for the quality of the movies themselves, I would probably rank them in the order in which you released your reactions (let the flame wars begin): 1- The Thing 2- The Fly 3- The Blob

Jay_delachance

Wish you had gone the double-feature route (watch the new one, then the old one) with some of these movies like "The Blob" and "The Fly".

Excellent timing! The 35th anniversary of its release was this past Saturday.
