Fun fact. Tony Gardner who did that amazing half corpse in Return of the Living Dead was the head of Special Effects on The Blob. He turned into one of the most sought after Special Effects guys globally:-)

He was indeed the godfather of improv:-) The actor playing Brian Flagg is Kevin Dillon whom you have definitely also seen elsewhere. Shawnee Smith who plays Meg is most famous for her role as Amanda in the Saw franchise of movies.

2024-07-21 16:10:28 +0000 UTCThis version is soooo good! I've only ever seen the 1950s version. That scared the poop out of me when I was a kid. It was the idea that something that moved so slow could be so deadly. This Blob was way different, but equally terrifying! And what a great cast! Kevin Dillon from Entourage!!! That's so funny. It's awesome to see Shawnee Smith from the Saw series as Meg. She was a horror movie queen from the 80s!!! Who knew??? And of course, Art LaFleur, may he rest in peace, was amazing. It's crazy I've never seen this before now. Great reaction Kat!!! Loved every minute of it.

2023-08-08 20:30:55 +0000 UTCOh, and to answer your question at one point - nope, no CGI. All of the blob effects were done practically. There is some mediocre-to-downright-crappy compositing, but the blob effects themselves were created practically and then composited with live action.
