It's a big part of my work, I have a tonne of books, magazines, blogs, and other Patreons I follow. I think it's important it helps to make sure my work stays interesting.

That's not a process I do alone, models bring stuff to me, I talk to friends, but with Patreon, I do want to involve you in that process.

So I thought today I would start giving insight into some of those places I draw inspiration from starting with a list of great photographers you should check out on IG:

instagram.com/cameron_hammond
instagram.com/amadeoagis/
instagram.com/jaredkocka
instagram.com/ianpassmorefoto/
instagram.com/halamilla_/
instagram.com/filthymouthcreative/
instagram.com/seanneil_/
instagram.com/samli.vm/
instagram.com/oliviachuk/
instagram.com/wolfcubwolfcub/
instagram.com/jo_pesch/

Physical magazines (to get them into Aus, I think I spent $400 an issue but I LOVE them):
https://pmagazine.co/

Other Patreons/digital magazines I used as a reference point:

patreon.com/kimakrich/ (Kim's work is stunning!)
patreon.com/seriesmag
beyondthepines.com/
livefastmagazine.com/
vivazmag.com/

I also looked at David Bellemere's mag, but I've heard terrible terrible stories about his treatment of talent, even from models I know, and I believe the women I work with should be celebrated, not coerced or harassed: https://www.instagram.com/magnifikmagazine/

The second part of this is, I don't just want to go "hey here's how I do things" but to have you suggest stuff for me to look at, shots you love.

I only have two rules, it has to be shot by a photographer and it has to be artful! I'm always looking for stuff that's story driven, beautiful, and makes them feel elevated. I had a great chat with one of the models I really want to shoot for ONLINE, who pulled out a bunch of old Playboys on a FaceTime call last week and showed me a bunch of things she loved, and we're going to sit down over coffee on the weekend and find something in there she's comfortable doing.

I also have moodboards here: https://au.pinterest.com/ofoliver/_saved/ and here https://inspo.minnett.co/

So drop a comment, send a message, or a link, to me, you don't need to be a photographer to have an appreciation of great work, and I love seeing it!
