so! i have been looking at this synth again this past couple of days, you may remember it from about 9 months ago, as its when i picked it up. but it became a tad convoluted story why i didn't get a video together for it. which involved helping a guy in a zimmer frame accross the road which ended up in an hour of trying to get him home and proceeding to forget the wireless world magazines in his zimmer frame pocket! unfortunately i didn't know where he lived to get them back as a passer by recognised him and picked him up to get him back the rest of the way. but yeah i shelved it until i ffound other copies of the magazine and then the organ came into view and i forgot about it, but i recently found some copies of the magazines again. this is tim orrs debut into magazin synthesizer articles. you'll know him from the powertran synthesizers i have covered, this synth came out the same year that the practical electronics PE synthesizer came out which i covered the other week, you'll notice how fundamentally different they are as projects, as this one does not come with stripboard layouts or PCB's just schematics! the builder of this synth john wells made mostly self etched PCB's but actually finished it very recently with stripboard filter and noise circuit.
im not sure if ill get this video out this weekend as i have opted to replace the power supply and waiting for voltage regulators to arrive! for reasons i'll get into.
I got onto this prohject as i realised the next organ job is BIG and im waiting on parts for it again! so it looks like ill need to be finding something else for this weekend as both of these are on hold till parts arrive!
lets see! :)
if you want to read the magazines check august/september/october 1973 here :-
