PAIA DRUM 5700

I was hoping to get some sounds for a little Patreon video tonight, but the results right now are somewhat disappointing, both assembled behave differently, I figured the best thing to do is plonk one together and compare the other two to sort them out. ill do a livestream of this on here at 7pm GMT (8pm uk time, time zones bloomin time zones) on Thursday evening 14th July.

Im going too use everything in the kit, I know there was mentions of new electrolytic but there are none iii the drums. so ill be plonking it together!

then ill be making a video for it for this weekend :) fun times!

hopefully ill get a working one built on Thursday night, its my first time making a Paia kit of the era (actually thats a lie I did the theremin of theirs before, but that wasn't new old stock :D.

so yes join along if you'd like.

PAIA DRUM 5700

I know it is not relevent here, but, just so folks know. Polystyrene caps are heat sensitive. Cutting the leads too short or over heating when soldering can cause their value to drop, and there is NO cure. As far as I know, Polypropaline, Polyester and Maylar are the most robust.

Thanks a lot! I’m gunna roll with them I think as ceramics do! But much less than tantalums and electrolytically and I wanna go for the proper paia experience :D

I have just looked at the schematic for the Paia 5700 and saw a number if ceramic caps. Personaly, I dislike them, they can age. See this link https://www.digikey.com/Site/Global/Layouts/DownloadPdf.ashx?pdfUrl=91D84559BB484E21BD284CC0B41A4783 There is a a section on de-aging them, or just replace the little sods!
