A lucky find

Yet another reasonably luckily timed situation. On a telecommunication Facebook group about a synth that someone was going to take to the swap meet which I would not have been able to make. It happened to be a DIY magazine synth I had been hunting for for a while. Chatted to the fine fellow who had it offered some stuff to swap or money but he didn’t want anything he just needed to get the garage cleared. Mad! This will likely be the next vid as it is apparently in more functioning condition than the 4600 so let’s see!

oh, you could easily get sub 50 x 50mm using all surface mount on a 4 layer board. but at that level it becomes a professional run board, rather a through-hole anyone can make it board. My idea with my board is you can easily back to back them and get 2 VCO's in reasonably compact form factor. I could go smaller on through-hole, say 75x75, but it will be tight.

I wonder how big those voice boards would be using modern components

perfect fit for the museum! Time to bring back the Kitty Backing Band.

some many discrete gates... I'll have to see what's in my old collection of electronics mags. BTW having fun with KiCad designing an old school VCO circuit for the hell of it, got it down to a 99x75mm board with triangle, square, sine, pulse outs and 1v/octave and sync inputs with Course and Fine tune. All works on the breadboard. Near the point where I'll get a run of proto PCB's done.
