Spring Reverb and a VCA board/schem download

so took a step back for a week or so from this module to design a little help in hand, this looks through design choices in the module which has 4 voltage controlled parameters. also chatting about some of the next projects including a series based on a magazine based 70's diy synth i picked up and will be looking at in videos soon as! have a guess which one. anyway hope the below helps! its the schematic and kicad file for the green boards

I did some messing around yesterday and actually found the best place for a tone adjustment, (hi pass filter) is the input of the spring for both the feedback and the signal. it seems if its just the feedback its not super useful, the feedback is relatively stagnant, but the character of the spring does not change massively wherever the tone is as it still retains its resonant character which is very rigid, but it does make it sound interesting and also changes the feedback Tone, you can get at least 3 standing waves

Yeah, the tone on the feedback would be cool. At the end would be good because it lets you change the character of your tank. Maybe just put tone controls everywhere 🤣

that did also cross my mind however I then thought ohh well if someone wanted to do that they could just use a mixer and externally feed it back if they wanted to. which took me off the idea! so maybe ill just plop the tone knob on the feedback! :D. but ill see maybe a send input might make sense!

An option is to have another input and an output with tone control. Unless something is plugged in, the output is routed internally to the second input as feedback. If someone wants to use a fancy filter, then they can do that by patching it externally :) Just a thought, but it might be overcomplicating things ;)

That was something I added in the first vid maybe I’ll do that for the 5th knob just a tone control knob. Coolio I’ll put that back in and see how it goes. I was half thinking with the feedback not to use a vca but a filter might be cool. But maybe just a rudimentary tone control would do. To be honest on tanks. I think a lot of designs have over complicated it. I’ll talk about it but I don’t think impedance really becomes an issue if you drive it with enough oomph . The design I have gone for is very simple ill chat about it when done more

Great to see progress on this! Sounds good and I like the controls. What would be useful would a filter (tone control) for the feedback, rather than the input signal. Anything that to be taken into account when it comes to spring tanks to be used?
