I caught it at just the right time it seems as Richard was about to part it out and put it on eBay because he said he would have thought no one would want something like this as a whole.
Thanks a lot for helping us find this thing. I sold a couple of things the other week to pay for the 10x10 pixel strowger project which I’m still planning to do! But this turned up on the radar and it just was too good of an opportunity to pass up so thanks for making this one possible!
A video will be up on it in the next couple of days aswell as a couple of others chatting to Richard who was the telephone engineer who had popped it together.

OMG how incredible it had to be for you to successfully call the other phone for the first time. Can't imagine! btw: is being a patriot considered something bad in UK? You've said "don't worry", is it something to worry about when someone has an English flag in their home? 😅

2021-06-16 08:29:40 +0000 UTCBTW, when I was a kid, we got a tour of the phone company switching facility (small town, about 16,000 residents) I remember seeing racks from floor to ceiling running the width and length of the building of relays (this is before the electronic switching units they use now). I had no idea what I was looking at, nor could I comprehend how it worked...until this video.
