Designing The Relay Sequencer Day 2

also looking at how fast it goes!

Designing The Relay Sequencer Day 2

Shame - I wanted to see a computer built entirely with relays run something like Protools :p

That sounds great. I hope you find time to document this project with a schematic, when it's finished. I'm looking forward to it.

yep this is the plan! howevewr not a computer in the traditional sense. i dont think id have much uuse for one and id just be building it for the clicks and flashy lights. basically gunna make a performance sequencer. similar in function to the beatstep pro. lots of aspects and stuff going on in there to keep the project busy for a while ha

would it be the coils??? 1800 + cycles would still be intermittent use, some of the relays are constantly on only to be switched off sometimes. but yes heat will be the factor, got a little bit of a plan, the cases are removeable. did some tests yesterday keeping one running, sure its fine, even used way more than specified its gunna take a good while to wear out. luckily it isnt in a machine that needs to be used every day loll

I love it, but ... It's a very dangerous experiment! If you continue like this, you might one day build your own relay computer. Where will it all end?

It isn’t just the clock amplifier that is going that quick. 1 relay in each of the flip flops whenever not activated is also going off. Only getting a break when that step is active. Tbh this could actually be done with a handful less relays making it like a bit counter sort of setup but aaaah eeeh aaah when was doing it the conventional way ever fun hahahaha

Haha not sure what the data sheet said but I’m sure one day I will find out ha

What's the expected lifespan of these relays? The gate relay was going like the clappers. Really like the clicks, reminds me of a running engine.
