20 minutes of raw Crystal Sequenced sounds

slice it up go crazy! or just listen to it doing its thing! this is all of the performance bits unedited from the video full length

next step with this is changing up the gear ratio i got it completely wrong, then being able to let it sync to a clock. there are ways you could stack these and use it as a clock aswell but who knows.

Ha yes, it basically makes a slightly weird transformer, but I'll play around with some more inductances to see if I can make something interesting out of that!

so if you have a tape head sitting around do it with that instead of the coil

also its worth mentioning the one I made actually used 2 tape heads instead of 1 inductor and 1 head. the only reason I used inductors for the spinning was because it had a wider magnetic field. but because the 2 tape heads were plonked on each other it didnt matter

by the way the thing your making works well!!! I have one I cobbled together the other day im not doing a vid on it tho. but if you manage to get yours done send us a vid ill make sure to mention it in the mk2 of this!

good point I didn't mention that. I used 100mH and 68mH

Thanks! That still leaves the question of what value inductor you're using, at 100uH it doesn't work. The circuit I'm using: https://ftw-random-bucket.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/screenshots/Screenshot+2021-03-27+222409.png - again, thanks for the help!

output to positive rail? think that would suggest a tiny mistake in the soldering of the magneto-hon! as for the coils you dont need to drive them but I used a circuit there is a screenshot of it in the vid skip to 3:05 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdVcY0ymyV8

Hey, how are you driving the inductors here and what values are you using? I'm trying to make a distortion/saturation effect based on this principle but am having some issues with getting the tape head to work, and I'm already using the Magnetophon preamp section - it just pegs the output to the positive rail :(

hey peter im sure its possible!!! funnily enough tried this sort of approach a while back! however air on the diaphragms was an issue but slowly it was quite cool. but quick enough for the doppler the air movement was a bit problematic!!! worth another go at soume point though! :D

Hi Sam! This is amazing! Its ingenious AND it sounds SO DAMN GOOD!!!! This leads me to a question: Can you make a "reverse Leslie"? Meaning a microphone i spinning in stead og a horn. If so. I would really love if you made a rotating microphone stand to sell in your shop. A poor mans Leslie. A psychedelic drum room capturer. A mind-boggling synth "pedal". In stereo it would fucking cause time skips and exploding brains. I reaaaally want such a device! Can you built it? Would be real cool if you could choose the microphone holder afterwards. Pleaaaassee!!! Ill take 2!
