On a bit more looking at the data sheet I think I'm probably going to add transistors or source driver chips between the decoders and the Displays,
when the above breadboard is fine for messing around and a bit of fun! sadly for very prolonged use I'm probably going to do it properly lol. Which I am somewhat allergic to but for this it seems like a good idea!!!!!!
to note I say driver a couple of times in the vid, I meant decoder. my damn brain and saying the completely wrong words without realising ha. just so you know!!!
also another thing I have been thinking today, is the element of uncertainty. The thing is It counts to a googol. BUT, thats its only job, I dont think it needs to adhere to a schedule. and to that point, regarding the clock, I may just make a clock thats quick.... not using quartz, aim for 10mhz or something. using maybe an LTC1799. this means that it also adds the unknown, for instance big turning points in the clocks life are uncertain, and can only be somewhat predicted, not literally put in a calendar.
