VLOG 113 floppy floppy flooo flaaaa

oops! put kitsunes video as the main on the post! my bad. here we go.

excuse the blisters! its all of that hammering out brickwork the other day my hands weren't used to it haha!

as for this video. the further its progressing it seems each floppy drive is gunna need a microcontrollers. there are many aspects I think making a good mellotron that the floppy needs a bit of a help in hand with, including capturing the motor start up for the "attack" and also length of sample and back to zero. lots to look into on this project! but ill keep you updated on it!

as for links

all 3 are variations of the same idea, but im planning to work it into a functioning instrument. fingers crossed!

Bit late to the party here, but I had a bit of a drunken thought - what if you hooked 2 drives up to avoid the gap when stepping.... The idea being that when the index on drive A triggers, it somehow switches input/output to drive B, then steps drive A making it ready to be switched back to. Then when the index on drive B triggers, it switches back to drive A, then steps drive B. And so on and so . So a kind of buffering system to avoid the gap when stepping a single drive. Meh. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about - but it's an idea.

I think as it stands each drive will have a sample of a key, whatever the key is, it'll have a long enough sample to be a few seconds long, so could sample piano's even.

Will each drive be a preset note? or will they be able to react to CV input?
